IMPRESSIONS OF AUTUMN

"Impressions of Autumn" (9-8-17 005v4) was taken yesterday, worked on then, and just now patted a little further into shape. I'd like to think it vaguely resembles an impressionist painting (my favorite school of painting) done in water color. I have some problems with it's composition. E.g., that central darkish tree trunk should be off center. But any re-cropping fooled too much with the rest of the pic's visual balance and impact. So I've decided to live with the little itch that tree trunk gives me when I take note of its positioning. I have several other versions of this same pic already in the folder. So, watch out. Early autumn's coming your way again, and soon. Unless in the meantime I take new pix and get captured by them. :-)

AUTUMN MIDNIGHT

"Autumn Midnight" (8-30-10 10019v13a) was just further fudged from an old morph of a very old pic. I opened its folder at random feeling at a loss to find a pic to work with earlier for my dream poem post (link below to my dreams&poetry blog). I'm much happier with this one just done now, than that earlier dream poem companion pic. I've probably noted this here before but I often prefer the pix I produce for this blog without any sense of them having to somehow meet a purpose, than those I fix up to go with a poem.

EVEN BUTTERFLIES HAVE SPINES

Don't ask me! I don't know if I could fully explain the title. It just popped and stuck, and has a heavy psychological component. Anyway "Even Butterflies Have Spines" (8-15-17 004v6b) was just now morphed from a previous version of a newish pic of that favorite fern of mine. It's clearly been heavily fudged with and I had a good ole time doin' it. I must confess I occasionally think there's something a wee bit sadistic in how I enjoy thoroughly messing with a photo. Twisting it all out of shape. And given my mood today, I'd have to say that observation is probably at least partly applicable. A way of getting even with the world. ROTFLMAO ... As if one can ever "get even" in this life! I'll even admit that the need to get even is a part of the problem. Ah, how far I've wandered from this off the wall abstract pic.

LAST NIGHT

As mentioned yesterday, here's this year's Ganesh Chaturthi altar, with all the little gifts (one placed there each evening I sat there and "meditated"). The gifts are all in a little group in the lower right edge. Lots of shiny things (I'm a sucker for reflections and iridescence and light refraction). There was also a vase of (artificial) flowers in the upper left. And on the wall above those background shelves are more Ganesh pix. The flowers, the wall pix, and the shelves are there permanently. As are a few of the Ganesh's seen here. I just add more Ganesh's and whatever else catches my fancy when Ganesh Chaturthi comes around (end of August/early September). Thank you dear, sweet Ganesh for being with us. (Guess I should note: I relate to all Deities as faces of the Great Unknowable. That which my tiny human mind can't grasp in its enormity. But does catch the briefest of awesome flashes of an occasional aspect of its profundity, in one of the many Deities we identify as it. And Ganesh is my favorite. First among equals, I should say.)

A LOOPY GANAPATI

I don't think I've ever posted this Ganesh here before: "A Loopy Ganapati" (Ganesh folder, lord-ganesh...). The title is mine, and Ganapati is another of His names. I made so many requests of Ganesh at His Ganesh Chaturthi altar last night I wouldn't be surprised if He didn't feel a bit loopy today. I like the pink and purple a lot. But His facial expression is a hoot. And those lotus petals ... well! Hey, even a Deity has His moments, ey? BTW, I'll post a pic of this year's altar soon, now that all the gifts are on it.

A Ganesh Altar from a Previous Year

This was my Ganesh altar (Ganesh Folder, 002v2) for Ganesh Chaturthi probably two years ago. This year's looks very similar. I will post a pic of it when all the gifts have been placed on it. (BTW, all those books aren't a part of the altar. I just use the end table beneath this small shelf, as available table top space is scarce in my rooms.) I have to admit I feel like Ganesh was with me today from the moment I stepped out of my front door. He kept doing what my prayer to Him requests: getting me out of my own way. For all the heat wave temp (which I don't usually have trouble with, but I was getting nauseous, fortunately I always have plenty of water), and having to cut my walk much shorter than I wanted, it was one of the nicest ones I've taken in ages. Many lovely conversations, one of them with someone I'd only seen around I.V. at a distance. I worked on a draft of a dream poem, and began working on another new poem in my head as I hobbled across the parking field toward home. Thank you, Ganesh, for being large and in charge! I use the expression quite deliberately. As the new poem is about not trying anymore to be less than I am because others can't handle it.
