"houseplants, too ..."

"houseplants, too..." (HAIGA folder, "houseplants too") has been posted here before (six years ago) and also back then to my dreams&poetry blog. But it really "begged" for re-posting today. I think what draws me is the reminder that morning does come again, no matter how grey (and even totally lightless) things may seem. BTW, this is what is called a "haiga." That is, a haiku on an image. Not necessarily an illustration, though in this case the image just happened to illustrate the haiku when I was looking for a pic to go with it. Usually the image simply highlights something in or suggested by the haiku, or even contrasts to it or something in it. (The haiga, and the component photo and haiku are by me.)

RETURN OF THE SALAMANDER

"Return of the Salamander" (4-13-18 009v2) is from a version of an original pic of mine that's only a few months old (for a change). Not sure what I like about it, other than that vague, somewhat red salamander shape in the upper middle-ish right. Better leave off here, it's a bad day (especially arthritis pain-wise) and it's coloring everything I'm doing and trying to do. Even as I keep climbing, like that kinda, sorta salamander in this pic.

ANTICIPATING THE SUN

"Anticipating the Sun" (7-16-09 3792v3) was just fussed out of a very old original pic of mine. I must have tried this particular crop a few dozen times over the years and was never all that jazzed by it. But I always knew to hold on to the original and today I like this tall/narrow crop. Who knows how I'll feel tomorrow? :-) BTW, other ways of cropping it (and it does very much need cropping) have been even less satisfying over the nine years since I took it. And that center unfolding petal always tends to unbalance the pic as it's so eye-catching. As a matter of fact, even today as I cleaned this crop up and worked on focus, I found that the central petal would occasionally jump out a bit too much at me. But, hey, as I've said here many, many times before, nothing's perfect. And I do like this pic a great deal despite that little flaw.
