OFFSPRING

"Offspring" (11-24-09 8277v2) is a very old pic, finally "finished" this morning. Had to do some color fix up; those buds had red in them that sort of "jumped out" and contrast needed to be increased, then a wee bit of painting out in that black background. As almost always, I liked this pic better when I first stumbled across it today (opening folders at random). However, those petals are still a delight to look at.

SKETCH FOR HIBISCUS

"Sketch for Hibiscus" (10-07-09 7391v6) was just morphed this morning from a very old pic. (As always, along with a few other versions.) Nothing much else to say, except that I like it and wonder if I will ever actually sketch with real pencils or pastels again. It's been many years since I've done any drawing, or even painting of any kind, that wasn't produced by a complicated series of clicks on a computer mouse. BTW, I say "complicated series" because although there are filters designated "water color" or "pastels" and so on, their effects by themselves are never fully satisfying to my eye. So I go on and on, combining, reversing, and re-combining and blurring filters and such until the photo hits me with a yes, that's it!

ON FIRE

"On Fire" (11-26-09 8312v10) is from that same old folder of pix I've been in for a few days now, though I've not posted a lot of the pix I'm torturing from its denizens. As with the vast majority of pix I produce I liked today's much more when it first flashed on my screen. Now I'm less and less sure. I do like all the shapes and details, and the bright colors. However, do they work and play well together? I'm not sure. Or maybe it's just the pic's intensity I'm questioning. Worrying it's too much, even though I like it.

MEMORY'S MAZE

"Memory's Maze" (11-26-09 8312ev4) was morphed this morning from an old version of an even older photo. I re-cropped it slightly, did a wee bit of clean-up, and enjoyed trying to do something new with these lovely ruffles. All the while indulging myself with this color combo. One of my most favorite ones.

DREAM OF THE WHITE ROSE

"Dream of the White Rose" (10-3-11 11324v2j) is an old photo just morphed this morning. And the original is truly a shot straight down into a wide open ruffly white rose. Need I even say it? I've several other versions I made this morning, in addition to those already in that folder for years. It's one of those blossoms whose shapes and shadows I find endlessly fascinating. However, the pic doesn't work "as is" (i.e., realistic), only as a jumping off point for my imagination.

YIN &YANG

"Yin & Yang" (10-27-15 012v3a) is a recent pic, just edited this morning. I also really like this pic (and many other crops I have of it) in full color. But those interesting curves/shapes, both the light and dark, are emphasized by black and white. So that they illustrate (IMHO) the yin/yang philosophy that what appears to be opposite is actually complementary.

ALL EARS

"All Ears" (10-27-15 037v2) is a recent photo and version thereof, that I just did the last bit of clean-up on this morning. It's a constant surprise to me how much messy background detail only shows once on the computer screen. Though for all the busy greenery in this one, the clean-up was really very minimal. Of course, that was once I had cropped out all that I could and still have a photo left. Smile.
