OY! THE ELEVATOR'S OUT AGAIN

"Oy! The Elevator's Out Again" (7-20-14 015v2) is an old pic just fixed up today. Not much done to it: a small amount of cropping, a bit of sharpening and color saturation, and a wee bit of painting out of little distractions. Frankly, I'm surprised I'd not done this before as I like the pic. Guess it's just another victim of my having over 12,000 pix on my computer. :-) This is a secondary reason I've been doing my archiving/deleting project: to catch up with pix I've overlooked over the years. BTW, I think I may have said this before here, but as soon as I've finished my archiving/deleting project I'll have to start it all over again. New pix keep coming along. And I'm always editing old ones, not to mention my changing tastes and skills. I figure as long as I can keep the number to no more than about 12,000 both my computer and I will be OK.

SUN AT WINTERTIDE

"Sun at Wintertide" (6-19-14 8399e1a) was just now morphed from an old pic. Still have some minor issues with it, but I'm leaving them be as I like the overall effect. And each time I fuss with a heavily edited pic, it changes stuff I don't want changed. Or maybe it's just my mood: so what if it's not perfect. I like it and I'm tired of struggling for what clearly can't be attained. Although I usually enjoy an impossible challenge since I learn and discover as I go along, I'm not liking it today. Too exhausted and dispirited, in all ways.

THE BURR IN THE OINTMENT

Yes, I know, the expression is "The Fly in the Ointment," but I'm taking poetic license here with "The Burr in the Ointment" (6-2-14 005v2c). This is another of those pix re-discovered during my deleting/archiving project. But this one was just re-morphed yesterday. Along with two other versions. BTW, that burr-like shape is exactly that of the blossom in the original pic. I just messed with the colors (the "burr" was a bright red-orange and the various leaves around, of course, shades of green).

OPENING TO THE POSSIBILITY

"Opening to the Possibility" (4-15-14 063v3) is a fairly recent morph of an old photo. I've had it hanging fire for some time as it resulted from my on-going deleting and archiving project. A project I haven't been paying a whole lot of attention to recently. But I'm glad I've gotten back to it as I've re-discovered pix I'd already ear marked as good for posting. Those pix are particularly welcome on days like today when I'm short on time to work on anything (new or old). And that's happening more as I take an increasing number of long walks per week that eat up the time I used to spend at the computer. Those walks also usually produce lots of new pix to be worked on. A happy conundrum to have, given I'd really begun to think I'd never be wandering around this beautiful beach side and university community again.

WHAT'S THE POINT?

"What's the Point?" (10-4-16 010v2) is brand new, just taken yesterday and worked on this morning. Not much fussing here, mostly working for the best crop and getting the color contrasts right. Still not sure about the crop. It's one of those that looks fine ... until it doesn't ... then it looks fine again. Nu? Like the title says "what's the point" of all this fussing anyway. A tempest in a teapot, if you will. However, I am still tickled to have caught all those pointy things together, if nothing else.

"Oh, to be in those arms, arms, arms..."

"Oh, to be in those arms, arms, arms..." (9-21-16 022v2), hm, what to say about it? Except how much I enjoyed taking pix of the many eucalyptus trees along this road. Especially as I'd begun to think I'd not see them again. At least under my own steam. But now that I'm able to do long walks once more, I'm catching up with these old friends. I think the next time I walk their way I'll bring my wide angle lens camera, also. And see how that effects photos of high, spreading branches.

THE SUN BREAKS THROUGH

"The Sun Breaks Through" (9-29-16 001v2) is that straight forward version of the source pic for yesterday's heavily fudged one, that I mentioned in that post. I've passed this particular grouping of flora for weeks now, thinking to someday try pix of it. "Someday" came a few days ago. And the shots are as problematic as I'd thought they'd be. But I've had great fun trying to bring out what drew me to take the shots to begin with. And I think this version works, if one can stand the visual mess, which I can and actually enjoy.
