FISHING FOR ROSES

"Fishing For Roses" (1-23-16 8522v7) is another very old pic I just morphed yesterday, along with several other versions. Then when I went to post it today I got all caught up in fooling around with other ways I might torture it. I now have 16 (!) pix from the same old crop of one of my oldest pix. Who gets obsessed, moi?

SILK ROAD

"Silk Road" (1-23-16 oldpicv6) is from a very old pic I had a devil of a time finding. I have a paper print I ordered online, but no record of what folder it's in, and I wanted to fuss at it. I finally thought to look for it in the albums of pix I have with the online printer I use. (It's far, far fewer folders to go through there than on my computer.) But then I had to figure out how to copy/save it to my computer. The printer has entirely redone its website and I cannot stand it. To boot, once copied/saved to my computer the pic was in a very small version. Even smaller than I know the pic is (wherever it's hiding) in its original form in my folders. The form I uploaded it in to that online printer. I'll stop complaining though I could go on. The ins and outs of all this stuff is about to drive me crazy. And as the old joke goes "That's not even a drive, that's a short putt!" Oh, BTW, I am delighted with how this pic has evolved. So it was ultimately worth all that hassle. And one last thing, in my defense I do keep fairly good records of pix. Some just slip between the cracks, especially old ones from before I ever even dreamed I'd have nearly 13,000 pix to manage. Like the years old original for "Silk Road," wherever it is.

IN SEARCH OF TIGER LILY

"In Search of Tiger Lily" (8-5-09 5009v3a) is from one of my oldest and most favorite pix of all. Just morphed now. In a way I do feel as if I'm always searching for the real tiger lily in that source pic when I fudge with it. And, yes, there is an intended reference in the title to the Indian Princess of the same name in the child's story, Peter Pan.

INSISTENT DAWN

"Insistent Dawn" (8-15-09 5553ev4) is from that same old folder of pix I've been working in for a few days now. Nothing much else to say about it since it's so clearly been heavily morphed in Photoshop. It was one of those small, white iris-like flowers with blue-lavender in the center and yellow bits in the outer petals. I'd always liked the shapes so just followed what was suggested each time I tried an additional filter.

PATTERNING

"Patterning" (8-15-09 5468v3a) was just fussed from another of my oldest pix. What else to say about it? Well, one of the reasons I've been revisiting old favorite pix is to see what I might do with them now. The source pic for this one was taken 7 years ago. For this version of it I just slightly re-cropped it to meet my current needs, and messed with the texture and color curves to emphasize the patterns and contrasts.

MORNING CAN BE MESSY

"Morning Can Be Messy" (7-5-09 3210v2) was edited this morning from a very old photo, one of my earliest. I've recently been enjoying wandering through my really old pix. Though working on them can be problematic, as even the originals are only 640 X 480, which means they go wonky extremely easily when cropped and/or fooled with in Photoshop. I didn't know about increasing the picture size yet when they were taken. And that first camera -- an ancient loaner Gateway -- only had like a 5 pixel capacity. However, oddly enough, it took as good and sometimes better pix than I've gotten with higher pixel capacity cameras. Of course, I also took a great many more pix during any one photo walk than I have in more recent years. So just the luck of the draw has left me with some interesting pix.

THE NIGHT HAS EYES

"The Night Has Eyes" (6-25-09 2811v5) was just morphed from one of my oldest pix. I was trying to "rescue" the source pic as I've always liked it's atmosphere (dense tangle of flora and trees with lots of shadows and a few patches of light). And although I did succeed well enough, I also got caught up in what that tangle kept suggesting. So I kept following those suggestions and this version (and another one) resulted.
