CEREBRAL ROSE

Cerebral Rose (3-26-14 011v3 ) is a very new photo, just fudged with a couple days ago. Nothing much to say about it in particular. But I'm really enjoying our memorial rose garden as I do this time every year as it leaps back to life. I can imagine even my old brain lighting up like crazy at the sight of some new glorious bloom.

Ah HAH!

AhHAH! (4-4-13 12401v2) evoked just that from me when it popped in this final form on my screen. I'd been chasing something and not catching it, applying filter after filter and then ... !!! Now I'm content. And it's even in my most favorite family of colors. Funny thing is I was actually going through folders, deleting pix that don't work and offer little hope of ever doing so. And just as has happened before when I house clean, I also got grabbed by the possibilities of some of those old pix and wound up working on them. Which means although overall I managed to get the number of pix on my computer down quite a bit, I also added a few new versions. Such as "AhHAH!"

FESTIVAL OF THE DRUMS

Festival of the Drums (3-26-14 002v5) was just taken yesterday. Seems odd to say anything about it as a photo since it's been so thoroughly fiddled with. The original for this pic is a close up shot, down into a wide open fluffy white rose. Another of the many instances in which a photo has served only as the jumping off point for a collaboration between my imagination, Photoshop, and MS Picture Manager.

ADSORPTION

Adsorption is proof of my water on the brain state these days, what with the on-going drought here in California. I have a couple other versions of this same pic but just am not up to posting them, though will probably do so some other day. For some reason I can't seem to get into gear.

MASTER MOTIF; & FERN FANTASY

Master Motif (3-14-14 011v9) above, is only one in a bunch of differently cropped, oriented, and colored versions I've made of the original photo. As is apparent from many posts I've made here, I get fascinated by a certain pattern and keep trying to see where else it can go. In this case, those fern leaves are a delight to fool around with. And, below, is another one, Fern Fantasy (3-14-14 011v10). With this one I've yet again indulged in my most favorite color:

Both of these versions have had a couple Photoshop filters applied, as well.

NAVIGATING THE CHANGES

Navigating the Changes was even more fun than usual to mess with. I rarely have a mental image of where I'm going with a pic. Though I do usually consider which function to apply next, given the results of the previous. However, with this pic I just applied a bunch of functions at random, one after the other until something popped on my screen that grabbed me. And then got caught up in colors (the area of a pic I almost always work on last). Which family of colors? And should they be intense or subtle? I even tried it in black and white, which is below, as yet untitled:

Honestly I don't know which I prefer, the colored or the black and white version. I just know I enjoy wandering through the many suggestive shapes in both.
