FROM THE COFFERS OF THE KING

"From the Coffers of the King" (4-3-14 007v5) has been in-progress for a few weeks. It's from an old photo that I started fooling around with recently. I'm not totally content with it, but also don't think I'll ever get at what still calls to me to do. So I'm posting it with the comment that I really like the colors (always and ever, a sucker for brights) and the slightly blurry effect.

SAME OLD SAME OLD

"Same Old Same Old" (6-27-14 005v13) is an old selfie I just re-worked a little bit this morning... and that's all she wrote for today.

IN THE EYE OF THE RAINBOW

"In the Eye of the Rainbow" (11-24-15 053vj) was just morphed today in Photoshop from this pic, which itself was made yesterday in a new editing program I've just gotten access to. What fun! Although I must admit I'm not quite as fond of "In the Eye of the Rainbow" as I am of it's source pic, which is more unusual for me. And I look forward to doing more work in that new program, Sumo Paint, when I can find the time to learn much more about it. In any case, today's pic here pleases me largely because of the bright variety of colors and that vague eye shape.

"Water, water, everywhere..."

"Water, water, everywhere..." (11-24-15 053v2e) is a recent morph of a new pic, just slightly re-cropped this morning. Nothing much else to say about it other than the usual comment that it's one of many versions. Oh, and I will add that I sort of like the color combo. An unusual for me. (And, yes, that title is a quote from the famous poem "The Albatross," the line finishing "... nor any drop to drink.")

DIVIDING LINES

"Dividing Lines" (12-8-15 002v2) was just taken yesterday and cropped today. And the only other thing done to it? "Auto correct" in MSPictureManager to brighten it a wee bit. Then when I noticed those two dark vertical "lines" were just about centered I was not a happy camper. That rarely works in a pic; flattens its affect, so to speak. But I so liked the black and white reflection in the door, balanced by actual stairs with background greenery, I decided to deliberately center those "lines" to see if that could work in this instance. And as far as I'm concerned, it does.

LINING UP

"Lining Up" (11-27-15 012v2) is a very recent pic, just edited now. I didn't do a whole lot to this one; even less than yesterday's photo. I cropped it just a bit. Yes, I could get in quite close for this shot as this delightful banana leaf plant grows right at the edge of the sidewalk. (Though I do have to carefully slip behind a bench that's in front of it. Smile ... there's always something.) And I probably applied "auto correct" in MSPictureManager, as the colors are a bit brighter than in the original. It may seem odd that I can't recall for sure what I did just now to this photo. However, I was also working back and forth on several other versions of this pic. And I was massively fudging with them. They were edging on the abstract. I've since deleted them. They didn't work. The unadorned leaves are fascinating to me, just as is.

PRAISE FOR THE DARK

"Praise for the Dark" (12-3-15 007v2) was worked up today from a very new photo. We're still getting the occasional lovely rose blossom in our drought stricken garden. Delightful surprises, each one. I was happy this pic (once I gave up trying larger crops, and took it down to just the rose itself) needed very little fussing. Leaving it's own beautiful face to shine. BTW, it was a day shot. I darkened the midtones way down to drop out the messy background, painted out a tiny bit of remaining "schmutz," and then lightened the rose's color a bit. I also used the diffuse filter and did a little sharpening.
