FOUR SEASONS

"Four Seasons" (5-24-15 056v6w) was just massively fudged with (from an old version of an original pic of mine that's 3 years old). Not really happy with it, but I don't think anything would really please me today or even get a grudging "meh" outta me. We're in a heat wave (though they don't bother me consciously, I've noted they do get to my mood and energy levels) and a fire burning in the hills above Goleta where I live in California. (I heard the sirens last night, and noted the occasional flickering lights in my room. Both of which usually mean a nearby fire.) Sigh. As I'm sure I've said here before, CA has four seasons: fire, flood, earthquake, and drought. But lest I come across as a total curmudgeon, life's still good here. (Both climatically [if you will] and personally. :-D)

A BIRD IN THE HAND

The original pic of mine for "A Bird in the Hand" (10-30-16 009v2) is nearly 4 years old. But I just cleaned it up yesterday (cropping, realigning [it was vaguely tilted], and color-contrast-brightness work). I've been in a rush to go through my pix and choose at least 150 for a free order of 250 print copies I could have gotten from Shutterfly. But, of course, I kept getting caught up in working on pix I'd never yet touched, or in editing ones I had. Then I recalled how much stressful work it is to upload a lot of pix to Shutterfly (and Snapfish) and decided it wasn't worth it. But in the meantime I've gone through many more folders than I have to date and weeded them out. I've also begun a good list of pix I like enough to use on my blogs and/or get print copies when I don't have to do it all in a rush. (Good deals for free and/or really cheap print copies come up fairly regularly with both these websites.) Yeah, I've got plenty of birds in the hand right now. The distant dream of a slew of freebie prints isn't quite as compelling as it used to be. BTW, as to this pic? That's the Channel Islands in the distance, viewed from behind the fence at cliff's edge in Pescadero Park (a place I love to walk to and often take pix in). There are times of the year one can't see the islands at all, so I always welcome their "return."

PETRIFIED HEART

"Petrified Heart" (7-11-13 005v8a) was just morphed from (you got it!) an old version of a very old pic of mine. It's one of those I liked much more when it first popped on my screen after I'd made a color change in it. Ah well, nothing lasts, does it? Leastwise that's been my experience these days. And I keep reminding myself of that each time my mood falls off a cliff ...

HOT SUMMER'S NIGHT DREAM

"Hot Summer's Night Dream" (1-29-14 005v10K) was just now finished (or as finished as any pic [or poem] of mine ever is :-D). My sense of it is much like yesterday's morph: not mad about it but do like quite a bit in it. Today's, however, I must admit, I like considerably more than yesterday's weirdness.

THE FANTASY UNRAVELS

"The Fantasy Unravels" (1-29-14 005v10b) was just morphed from an old version of a very old pic of mine. Another of those I'm not all that happy with, but do like somethings about. Most basically, that sort of scratchy, thready look. That's rather unusual in my pix. I usually do anything I can to get rid of it should it appear. In this case, I simply decided to go with it and see where it took me. And it took me here, for whatever it might be worth. :-)
