HEAT WAVES

"Heat Waves" (4-24-14 003v9) is another for which I have many other versions. It's not my favorite of those, and has been sitting as is in its folder for some time. But I was having a devil of time finding anything else I really felt like posting. So, here it is, for whatever it may be worth. I can at least say I like the textures resulting from layering several Photoshop filters.

SYNAPTIC REVOLT

"Synaptic Revolt" (6-19-14 11359v2[1]) is an old photo, posted some time ago to my dreams & poetry blog with dream writing. I was delighted when I stumbled over it the other day to find I'd not yet posted it here. It's one of those very very few of my pix that I almost unreservedly like.

SUNNY SIDE UP; & THE DARKNESS OF CLOWNS

"Sunny Side Up" (6-19-14 8399ev2) above, is an old photo. Given the intensity of its colors I must have saturated them back when I first saw it on my screen, because all I did to it recently was re-crop it. At the time I remember thinking I wanted to keep some of the vague background greenery, but it just wasn't doable (either then or now). So therefore the square crop.

"The Darkness of Clowns" (6-19-14 8399v3) below, is the above photo worked on in Photoshop. Once those sort of clown mouths appeared I used the liquidity filter to further morph its shapes and lines:

DREAM CATCHER; & CIRROCUMULUS

I've been working quite a bit recently in black and white. As I may have mentioned here already I like the contrasts it creates that are often much more subtle in the original colors. Not to mention I think I was getting a little bored and needed something other than Photoshop filters with which to amuse myself. "Dream Catcher" (6-19-14 004v15) above is one of many versions I have made from the original photo. (Three others of which were posted here on June 21st.)

Below is a black and white abstract just made from a very new photo, "Cirrocumulus" (6-24-14 002v10). I checked on the various names and shapes for cloud formations and cirrocumulus came the closest to what I see in this pic. Converting to black and white further emphasized the different textures, if you will, of the grey and black squiggles, and the white "clouds." Creating, at least to my eye, the perception that the white floats above the black and grey:

NIGHT CREEPS IN; FOR EVERY SHADOW A LIGHT; & THE LAST SUNSET

"Night Creeps In" (6-19-14 12126v11) above is from an old photo. The same original pic as both the others are from today. And I did a great deal of fussing at each version in Photoshop. This view is one I often stop to take of a chimney I pass at least twice each day on our retirement community grounds.

Next below is "For Every Shadow A Light" (6-19-14 12126v7):

And to finish, "The Last Sunset" (6-19-14 12126v12) is below:

ALL HAIL THE NIGHT

"All Hail the Night" (4-25-11 10768v10) is another version of one posted here on June 19th. (Actually, the one on June 19th is a color inversion of this one.) And here again I see that weird thing blogger does with the colors in some of my pix. "All Hail the Night" actually has more black areas, up in the top portion especially, when viewed in any other program I have. Sigh. This difference doesn't spoil it altogether, but it does change this pic's visual impact somewhat.

FULL MOON OVER GOLETA PIER; SLIPPING THE NET; & REACHING FOR THE MOON

All three of the pix posted today are from the same original photo, taken years ago with a rather high-end loaner camera that I had no idea how to work with. I also had no idea of how to take night pictures. (I'm still not all that more savvy on that second point, but at least I know a tripod would be a great help.) However, I had fun snapping away, as did the friend who drove us to the beach to see what we could capture with our respective cameras. When I stumbled this morning over the original for today's pix (one of the few I kept from the slew I took) it cried out to be brought up in Photoshop. Three of the results are posted here today. This first above is "Full Moon Over Goleta Pier" (6-19-14 1010061ev3). The second below is "Slipping the Net" (6-19-14 1010061ev9):

And the third below is "Reaching for the Moon" (1010061 ev10):
