HER DNA THROWS A PARTY

"Her DNA Throws A Party" (3-22-18 d&p) was posted on my dreams&poetry blog in March of 2018. That must've been some party. I'm still feeling massively hung over! Metaphorically speaking as I don't drink. However, I do get sugar hang-overs from too much of any refined carb. In any case, I probably have had more fun with this title than the pic itself. It's one I'd like to work on a wee bit once I have good photo editing programs all loaded on my new computer. Yeah, that's still in progress. If I've noted anything at all about getting older and older, is how much slower I am to make changes. Even ones that are supposedly for the better. Life long experience has taught me everything's much more complicated than one would want. And the outcomes one is aiming for, are never, ever assured.

WINTER TABLEAU

"Winter Tableau" (1-29-14 005v2) was posted here five years ago, the day after I'd taken it. I've always wondered if I should somehow blur that brand name on the bottle. But the photo won't ever be truly published so I have left that certain to be frustrating task alone. Enjoying the pic as it is. It's one of those rare ones in my considerable (now 13,000) herd that needed hardly any cropping or fussing at all. BTW, it was a "found photo." I.e., this arrangement was just sitting there as I came up to the rose garden where this table was (is). I later learned that it was a good friend of mine who'd put the rose in the bottle; he'd come across it, cut from the garden and languishing on the table. It just hits me my photo was a second time that it got "rescued" that day. :-)

BELLY UP

"Belly Up" (tthabol 4-12-12) is another really old pic of mine, posted here in 2012. It's smoothness and lack of complication really appeals to me right now. Maybe even more than it did back then, when it was more the result of experimenting with color changes in Photoshop (which I'd not had on my 'puter very long). Though why I named it belly "up" I don't know. It's belly seems to be going in the other direction. :-) Well, maybe I was punning on that expression "belly up to the bar"? And I suppose I could rename it, but none occurs to me right now. I'm just enjoying it's shapes and colors. BTW, those lines/shapes were not introduced in Photoshop. They are from the original photo of a huge succulent (cactus?), cropped in extremely close.

PRISONERS OF PERCEPTION

"Prisoners of Perception" (posted earlier here on 10-28-13) ... what can I say about this one? It's generated a host of versions/crops over the years. This one comes closest to what I recall the original looked like. (The unfussed with shot has long since vanished, I believe, though once I have all my old pix on this new computer it may turn up. Stranger things have happened.) When I say "looked like" I don't mean to say this version was heavily fudged with in Photoshop. It wasn't. I cropped it nine ways to Sunday trying to find the best one. And increased color contrast and so forth. But this is the scene the original pix was (is?) of. I took it at the French Festival, and that table and bowl belonged to a Tarot card reader. I'd just had a reading and got permission to take a shot. I was intrigued by the contrast between those stark bars/shadows in the background, and the bright table cloth with its bowl of colors.

LAMENTATION

"Lamentation" (tthabol 9-18-13) has appeared here previously. It's one of my faves. (I'm finding I like more of my old pix than I thought, as I go through them looking for ones to re-post here until I have my new computer all set up to do photo work again.) The color combo in this has been at the top of my "most liked" list since childhood. But I also like the soft, suggestiveness of the shapes of this stag horn leaf. Oh, also the kinda sorta water color effect.
