THAT HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING

"That Hole in the Middle of Everything" (9-27-14 009v2g) was just now tortured from a previous version of an old photo. Underneath which other previous versions were at one time. In other words, I've morphed this particular "edition" of this photo many times. And I'm really not certain this one is worth posting, but my mood is such I really don't care. I put a lot of effort into it and there is that about it that draws me. So here it is anyway.

THE LIGHT WITHIN

"The Light Within" (10-20-16 015v3c) was just now "completed" from a version I made yesterday of a rather new pic. I'd been going through my recent folders as part of my archiving/deleting project and found this folder had a bunch of pix I'd not even worked on yet. It was especially fun to work on this photo as I love stag horn ferns. And this particular stag horn always tries to grow out around that corner toward brighter light, making for some interesting photos over the years. When I saw how inverting the colors on this pic made it look back lit from inside the building, I thought, "The real light comes from within anyway." So I saved the inversion, and took the photo's colors back toward the more natural. I also fussed with the texture to get that sort of water color effect.

HARVEST MOON

"Harvest Moon" (6-28-09 2988v4e) is (can you guess?) on old version of one of my oldest pix. It's been sitting in its folder for a long time, accompanied by (of course) many other versions. I didn't initially want to post it. It in fact, I worked assiduously on a new version (through several lengthy re-workings) but just couldn't get it right. (That one is called "By the Dark of the Moon" so you might get an idea of its colors and mood.) Then I caught sight of this one again and realized I really do like it much more. So here 'tis! Along with a HAPPY THAKSGIVING greeting to all.

GANESH SOUNDS OFF

"Ganesh Sounds Off" (7-23-09 4124v4a) was just fussed from a very old version of another of my oldest pix taken over 7 years ago. BTW, I see Ganesh in this tree photo: his trunk going up in the air on the right, his head and large eye near the middle. (The tree is still there but in sad shape, mostly I think due to the drought, as too many trees are now. But it still looks like a "trumpeting Ganesh" to me.) I worked on several other pix of different sorts, but I guess I needed to be reminded of Ganesh's benevolence and strength after a particularly physically and emotionally hard long walk to the ocean overlook park. I hasten to add, I still enjoyed the walk. It was just stressful and I sort of wished I'd had Ganesh to smooth the way, in his capacity as "Remover of Obstacles," smile. Also, you might want to click on the image for a larger version to see the details.

THE PAST ALWAYS RISES

"The Past Always Rises" (7-28-09 4466v2c) was just now morphed from a very old version of one of my oldest pix. Yeah, the past sure does always rise, just as it did in choosing this pic to work on today. In more or less altered form, true, but still the past nevertheless. Despite my mood I will admit I like this pic. You might notice a similarity of effect between it and yesterday's pic. That comes from the polar coordinate/polar to rectangular filter I don't use very often as its effect (at least to my eye) usually takes a lot of re-adjusting. But in today's pic the effect worked as it first showed up. Which I was grateful to see as I'd spent a lot of time earlier on a realistic sky-scape that wasn't working out and was getting bleary eyed.

BROKEN RAINBOW

"Broken Rainbow" (09-02-09 6439v2hh) was just now re-morphed (for the umpteenth time) from one of the oldest versions of one of my earliest pix. I think I have more abstract versions of its source photo than of any other among the 12,000 pix on my computer. Not sure why. The original is an awkward rose pic that has some interesting petal shapes at its center, that I could never get to work as a realistic pic. But has generated a host of fun abstracts. Sorta like life, ey? Yah never know where something may go based on how it looks. Like, even rainbows can break and still be beautiful (if I may be so bold as to use that word anywhere near one of my pix, smile).

DAWN BREAKS THROUGH

"Dawn Breaks Through" (9-20-14 016v2e) was recently morphed from an old pic. Kinda, sorta like it. Probably mostly for its color combo; delicious! BTW, it's best viewed in a larger version to see the details, so click on the image if you're interested.
