CAT LEAPING; & BATHYSPHERE

Both pix today, "Cat Leaping" (1-19-11 10430ev3) above and "Bathysphere" below (1-19-11 10430ev7) are from a very old pic, just morphed today. I think I'm quite a bit more partial to "Cat Leaping."  But here's "Bathysphere" anyway:

SKETCH FOR A ROSE; & WINTER SUNLIGHT

I stumbled across the old original pic for "Sketch for a Rose" (1-19-11 10437v4) in the folder of a different photo I was thinking of posting. And it summarily grabbed me. I now have several new versions of it, such as the below "Winter Sunlight" (1-19-11 10437v7):

DIVING IN; & HELIPAD

"Diving In" (11-6-14 004v4a) is a brand new photo, just edited this morning. I don't often succumb to the strong temptation to (carefully) chase bees around the flowers when I see them. I've learned what a frustrating experience that is. But I also know once in a great many attempts I do catch a bee at its work in a not-too-bad pic. The above is one of those times. And below is another, really old pic, that I just managed to work into something passable yesterday,"Helipad" (10-1-11 11318e):

I'm going to have to do some serious reading of my wide angle lens camera manual. I've noted its focus is not as good in close ups -- as in the flower center of "Diving In" ("Helipad" was taken with a different camera) -- as it is in distance shots, like buildings. I'd like to think, though, that at least in "Diving In" the vague fuzziness adds something to the pic. (However, I did sharpen it a wee bit.) Oy, now that I'm in "critical mind" I should note I had/still have an issue with the contrast in "Helipad." It took a lot of work to get it as good as it is, though it does still have a sort of haziness to it I'd be happier without. While the cropping was a tortured process, and is still not fully to my satisfaction. There just comes a point where I accept a pic's limitations (and mine ... there's only so much editing I'm willing and skilled enough to do) and if I still like it, post it.

COIN IN THE FOUNTAIN

"Coin in the Fountain" (10-1-11 11319v8a) is one of an increasing number I morphed from the same old original photo. I liked a lot of them much more yesterday afternoon as I improved previous versions and produced a few new ones. Now I think that what I was really liking was the focused and calm state of mind into which hours of pic editing leads. In any case, "Coin in the Fountain" is one I do sort of like. Maybe it's the vaguely watery effect prompting echos of that old song "Three Coins In A Fountain."

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!

"Can You Hear Me Now!" is one of an exceptionally large number of versions I've morphed out of the same original (fairly new) pic. I was pleased to stumble on that radiating straight line effect. Hope I'll re-discover it the next time I want to try it on a photo. :-) I remember the two particular Photoshop filters it's a combo of, but the order in which they were applied may be important, too. Not to mention the adjustments one can make to each of those filters' effects, and I did do some adjusting. As much as I think it would be nice to have notes on how I got certain effects, it's great fun just to sit down at the computer and see what I might come up with that day that's new.

ATLANTIS EMERGENT

... and with today's "Atlantis Emergent" (10-7-14 009v10) I'm back to my basic leaning these days, the non-representational. This is one of those I can only say tickles me. The textures (a combination of many different Photoshop filters), the shapes, the "movement," the overall composition, and the colors. I guess one would suspect I'm pretty pleased with it, and one would be right. It's a good feeling given how more than usually critical I've been with my pix for some time now. I'd better leave it at this, or I'll start picking at this one. :-)

THE WITCH TRIES A SELFIE; SHE MUCH PREFERS SPELLS; & ECHOES OF GRACE

"The Witch Tries a Selfie" (11-1-14 009v3) above, is brand new. I'd threatened a couple days ago to post pix of me in my Halloween costume. However, this isn't the full regalia, just the hat. I never made it to the party (long story). But I'd also promised a couple friends pix of me, so thought I could at least wear the hat (the central piece of the costume) and snap away. The hat is a gorgeous purple sateen with all sorts of shimmering dark veils and flowers and some feathery things. The below pic, "She Much Prefers Spells" (009v2), at least shows the purple point (that brim is also purple on the topside of it):

"Echoes of Grace" (003v4) below, caught my editing eye because of the resemblance to my grandmother's hands (her name was Grace) and to my own hands when I was younger (my middle name is Grace):
