SNAKES IN THE GRASS

"Snakes in the Grass" (10-10-18 10008v2b) was just tortured out of a very old pic of mine. Fitting what I see in it (check out the title), given my mood. And I'll leave it at that.

IN THE COOL COOL COOL OF THE EVENING ...

"In the Cool Cool Cool of the Evening..." (9-28-18 018v2b) was fudged from a recent original pic just a few days ago. And (can you guess?) there are a couple other versions of this same crop in the folder with it. But I kinda sorta like this one most right now. Although I actually took the shot at the hottest part of the day, it does always cool off here in "Paradise" in the evening. (Unless we're in a heat wave, and those as far as this former New York City resident readily asserts, are barely worth the term "heat wave" ... :-D) As to the original pic, I took a few different shots of this huge palm, hoping one might capture what generates the awe I feel when I stand under or very near it. Still working on that awe with further versions of the various shots. In the meantime, I had fun working up today's pic.

STURM UND SONNE

"Sturm Und Sonne" (9-28-18 001v8) was morphed a couple weeks ago and has been sitting in its folder with many other versions of the same original pic. It finally appealed strongly to me today when a title popped into my head on viewing it, as I was looking for something to post here. I'm waiting for some sun in my life. Not literally, the days here have been lovely (as almost always). But certainly metaphorically. BTW, the original for this morph is of trees and bushes. I'd say you can just see a suggestion of trees in the lower left. However, this pic has been so fudged with and flipped on its head, and cropped, that that isn't true. Though that area does appear tree-like, doesn't it? :-) (If you want to see the details in this pic, click on the image for a larger version.)

THE MANY FACES OF TREES

"The Many Faces of Trees" (4-13-18 022v2a) was just morphed from a pic I took in April. Yes, it was of trees. :-) And, believe it or not, I did not do any direct fudging with their curves and lines. I just kept following along with the exaggeration the various functions and filters I applied brought to their relationships to each other. Adding outlining, e.g., or difusing and sharpening. Did lots of color inverting and re-inverting. And even changes like that, along with color changes and filters, subtly morph lines and shapes. In fact, there's a mass of changes in this pic, but as I say, none directly fussing with the trees basic curves and lines. I just allowed them to be brought out of the literal into the fantastic. BTW, I'd suggest you click on this pic for a larger version, if you'd like to see the many details.

THE FAIRIES' NURSERY

"The Fairies' Nursery" (9-28-18 002v2b) continues my love affair with trees. It's clearly been massively fudged with in Photoshop and I had great fun doing so. I also have several other versions (as usual :-D). With respect to the blog break I announced about two weeks ago, I'm not sure it's actually over. Or maybe I'm just developing a more relaxed way of posting ... i.e., not compulsively posting every day. We'll see. Only time will tell. But, of course, time is the issue at this far end of life. (I'll be 75 in January. Yikes!) I'll revise that comment about time: at this far end of life I'm beginning to get that time is always the issue -- young, old, or in-between. We never really know "when" for anything, much less our passing on. It's all tentative. So best we live the now, now.
