Study in Blush, above, is about two months old.

The Way Home, below, was taken and worked on a year and a half ago. It gave me a smile when I came across it today. Outside (and inside) staircases are quite literally the only "way home" for all of us living on the second and third floors as our elevator's still being repaired. But I'm really posting it today to stand in contrast to "Study in Blush."

Stormscape, above, was just re-worked this morning. It's one of those taken earlier this week with that old Elxim camera my friend gave me. I came up against the limits of it's lower pixel count today, but it captures more detail within those limits than my Samsung, which is delightful. How good that is, of course, is questionable because the more detail, the more my imagination insists I follow it. Resulting in pix like these two today.

Above the Flood, below, is from that same group of photos and is almost the same shot. But clearly cropped entirely differently (among other sorts of edits).

First, a P.S. to yesterday's post with another shot from the balcony over our pool. When my friend who's in this photo below saw it he asked if it would "migrate" to my blog. So I take that email comment with its tailing smiley face as his permission to post it here. It's called Emerging from the Caves:

This photo below is brand new, taken with that old camera I spoke of yesterday (an Exlim that the above friend gave me), and just edited this morning. Not mad about this pic, but at least I'm able to get about the same sorts of effects as I got with my camera (a Samsung), so I'll be comfortable until I get a better one than either. I'm calling this pic The Weave:

Overview, above, was taken yesterday, from the balcony outside the library on the grounds of our retirement community. I've been largely beached (due to arthritis) on the second floors of our complex as our elevator is out for repairs for at least three weeks. But it's truly an ill wind that doesn't blow anyone some good. This is the first decent shot in my five years living here that I've gotten of this view. That's a combination of coming out on this balcony for the first time in ages to get some sunlight and the old camera my friend gave me. As to the camera, I didn't do any fussing with settings at all. (I've downloaded the manual and will be looking through it for adjustment hints soon.) It does produce a slightly shady spot that shows in some photos but now that I know this, I can compose shots so that it's not on a solid light space of the picture. And although this camera has a lower pixel count than mine, I can still crop in rather closer than I'd thought I'd be able to. So I now have an overall better camera to use until I get my own new one.

Here below is Gazebo on the Edge, the area on the other end of the pool:

On the Way, below, is an old photo I just stumbled over, taken with my camera. It gave me a smile to see that elevator sign, given we don't have use of it right now:

And this, below, is an untitled shot I took as our going on 50 year old elevator was first being worked on (about a week ago). It's also from my camera. I'm actually somewhat surprised it came out given my camera's quirks. But I was so tickled to see the guts of this poor over-worked elevator that I had to try to get a picture. About 200 people live here in this three story complex at any given time. And this little elevator doubles as a freight elevator for much of the furniture that's constantly getting moved in and out.

Study in Coral, above, is a recently re-worked old photo. For some reason coral, or any pink for that matter, is hard to achieve. (At least in the not very up-to-date editing programs I have currently.) So I was delighted when I got to this shade. I also like the sort of "old style" look the color inversion gives this picture.

Study in Orange, below, is the same photo, colors re-inverted. Of course, then the rose was a somewhat muted darker aqua, so I took it back into the summery end of the spectrum.

Pele's Pique, above, is a brand new edit of an almost three year old photo.

And Avalanche, below, is a further re-working of that same photo:
