EFFLORESCENT

"Efflorescent" (1-23-16 8522v8a) has been so fudged with in the past two days (and just now) I'm surprised it hasn't gone totally wonky on me. I so like this color combo and the rose's shapes, and yet, and yet ... each time I let it sit for a while or overnight, I note another problem when I see it again. I've been having that same issue with my writing these days (without even liking the poems I've been producing all that much). Sigh, maybe it's just another aspect of getting even older ... getting pickier! However, I have to admit I'd actually prefer to think I'm being a picky old woman, rather than it be an indication that my work's less and less up to snuff.

HUNGRY FOR LIGHT

"Hungry for Light" (11-27-15 009v2c) was just "finalized" from an old pic of mine. I've been working on one version or other of this crop of the original photo most of the morning. Just couldn't settle on one. Then after I'd wandered far afield and thought I'd settled, I saw this earlier version from today and realized it's really the best of the batch. Thing is, though, at the same time I also spotted an entirely different fern pic I'd made yesterday, in that same folder and like that one as much. Well, I'll just post that one tomorrow ... unless something else grabs my hungry attention. (Which attention is rather literally "hungry for light." I'm in the middle of the single worst episode of Seasonal Affect Disorder that I've had since moving to CA 11 years ago. If my history with S.A.D. years back is any proof, I should start feeling ever so gradually better as light starts returning by the end of the year.) BTW, click on the pic if you'd like to see the fussy details. :-)

EN POINTE

"En Pointe" (11-27-15 006v2a) was just fussed out of a really old pic version of an even older pic of mine. I think it may have hung fire all this time because it's an odd size. I.e., if I ever want to have inexpensive prints made on line I'll have to put a bit of a white edging on top and bottom to bring it into the proper proportions or it'll be automatically cropped (... Ack!). (BTW, I then have the option to use my trusty paper cutter and trim off the white edges. In the case of truly square pix, though, the thick white border at top and bottom can sometimes be enhancing.) The vast majority of the time I manage to re-crop in order to accommodate those proportions. But in this case (and others) I don't want to crop any of the photo. So I'm "steting" it and am prepared to deal with giving it a slim white edge at top and bottom if I decide to have prints made. Now to this pic itself: as I've said enough times here (if I had a nickel for every time, I'd be wealthy!): I love ferns. It's been quite some time since I've taken any pix of them. Hell, taken pix of anything, actually. However, I have a tremendous photo playground in the nearly 13,000 pix on my computer. And although I miss my long walks on which I take lots of pix, I'm having a great deal of fun working on those I already have.
