AND HER MIND GOES UP IN SMOKE AGAIN...

"And Her Mind Goes Up In Smoke Again..." (3-28-17 010v2) is a very old pic. I just now slightly color saturated it and painted out a couple very small distractions at the bottom edge. Both the image and the title reflect pretty much how I've been feeling on and off for months now. I begin to think I'm past losing my mind and, bingo, something else happens. It's really somewhat amusing. I've never felt much like what I perceive as a normal person. And wonder if maybe "normal" people's minds go through these sudden deaths regularly. You know, like the expression "I was blown away"? These on-going intense and often sudden shifts in mood, and in what one believes to be true/not true.

IN THE WIDE VIEW

I've had "In The Wide View" (2-27-17 025v2) ready for posting for a while but just couldn't get past some little issues I have with it. But I'm grumpy (to put it mildly) and rushed today, and decided to post it just because I like it, and let the problems go hang.

SPRING WILLOW

"Spring Willow" (3-25-17 013v3) was just morphed from a very new pic. From that batch I've posted a couple realistic willow pix from recently. I do like the realistic version of this one, but it kept pestering my imagination until I took it here. I can always post the representational version another time. BTW, the willows these pix are of have since blossomed and begun loosing their tiny white flowers and are putting out their little dark brown sort of fuzzy seeds (nuts?). How fast things spring (pun intended) to constantly changing life here after good rains and sunny days.

AT THE CROSSROADS

I've had "At the Crossroads" (2-27-17 010v2) ready for posting for some time now (the original was taken a month ago). But I have trouble with how dark the shadows are (couldn't do anything with them in Photoshop without messing with other stuff, too). Yet, that is how they look "live" on bright days. Of course, how something looks "live" can have a different effect in a two-dimensional pic. I.e., I think it's the two dimensions of the pic that make the shadows jump out more. However, I like it otherwise. Even the even split at the center (that's a bicycle shop) and the two balanced palms and lamp poles. Sometimes the off-center, "rule of three" just doesn't apply in my book (smile). Of course, that I mention it exposes my worry that others might find the even split and balanced palms and poles a poor compositional choice. Whereas it pleases my (non-professional, but somewhat artistic) eye. I also should really take it back to the full size, uncropped original and re-do it because it's lost a wee bit of focus with all I did to it along the way. Now that I know what to do, I might be able to avoid that wee loss of sharpness without over sharpening (which is how it looks to me now). However, that's an effort for another day when I have the time. BTW, this is a favorite place I often sit in my walker and watch all the activity. (On the corner, outside left of the frame.)

PRAISE TO THE STORM

"Praise to the Storm" (3-28-17 004v3) was just snapped today, after drafting a poem/prayer about/to this tree. It's actually another gorgeous sunny day out there. I came to this version as I fooled around with the source pic in Photoshop. Not much really done to it other than the usual cropping, use of diffuse and sharpen, and applying the black and white filter that best suited the mood that was emerging.

"...and where's the jacaranda?"

I haven't the vaguest idea if this pic can work for anyone else but me given my sometimes odd sense of humor. But when I saw this scene ("...and where's the jacaranda?" [3-25-17 005v2]) I laughed out loud. The jacaranda that's the source of both shadows and pruned twigs is starting to "green up." By May it should be blossoming, yay!

INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER

"Into the Wild Blue Yonder" (3-25-17 009v6a) is another of those taken yesterday of the willows I so enjoy. That sort of slanted effect is from the wide angle lens of the camera I'm using. (I still haven't taken the time [blush] to get my new, non-wide angle lens one set up. Won't bore you by repeating my excuse for procrastination ... smile.) However, here I think that wide angle effect actually adds to the photo's impact. It sort of imitates the feeling I got when I looked up and "whoosh" those branches just went on forever into the sky.
