BEACHCOMBING

"Beachcombing" (3-3-16 002v10e) was just morphed today from a previous version of a month old pic. I've been fussing at its color saturation (both the overall and individual colors) and trying different color filters for so long I'm bleary eyed. It's still not quite right, but I'm beginning to think that perception might be a function of having stared at it way too long. And since I really like the sort of honeycomb shapes and the colors (if not their relative saturations, etc.), I'm posting it anyway.

A KISS FOR THE MOON

"A Kiss for the Moon" (3-28-16 024v3), yep, another from my new pix of our happily blooming memorial rose garden. I'm really feeling neglectful, not having taken any in the past couple of days. And there are even more blossoms gracing that corner garden. Maybe I'll get to taking some today after dinner. The light will still be fairly decent ... Anyway, I had fun fussing with the original pic that's become "A Kiss for the Moon." The source pic is fine as is, but as I worked at cleaning up a very messy background I found myself enticed to go further with the overall pic. And, as I said yesterday, I have many similar pix of roses so wanted to do something new, if you will, with this one. (BTW, it wasn't originally a night shot.)

DARNING

"Darning" (3-28-16 008v2d) was just morphed this morning from one of those many new pix I've taken in our rose garden. The original is a pretty enough pic of a yellow rose, but I have so many shots like it that I've taken over the years, that I wanted to see where else I could go with this one today. (Of course, as always, I saved the original, which will probably show up here at some point.)

A KISS FOR THE SUN

"A Kiss for the Sun" ( 3-28-16 027v3b) brings me back to our glorious rose garden. A new pic, just edited today out of a much larger one. I was actually surprised the focus held as it's cropped way down. I had a devil of a time coming up with a name, which is extremely unusual, and was busy typing an explanation here for a rather dumb title when this better one popped to mind. Also, as too often happens, the more I stared at this pic trying to come up with a title, the less I liked it. That is, found little things about it I'm not happy with. However, the overall photo I do like.

THE ROSE AWAKENS

"The Rose Awakens" (11-6-14 009v2d) is from an old pic, edited on and off since taking it. I think I've finally finished it this morning. Of course, as usual, that word "finished" should probably be read with a touch of impermanence. Who knows how I'll feel about the pic in the future.

BEARDED BABY

"Bearded Baby" (10-2-15 032v2) is not from this year's rose garden profusion, but from last fall's crop. I'm always as drawn to these little, poorly developed buds/blooms as to the big, florid ones. But in the masses of roses we have opening, many of them huge, it's hard to see much less get good pix of these little ones. I have tried, using my walking stick to hold the larger ones aside while balancing without it, and leaning forward among the bushes as much as I can. Quite a challenge and so far this year not successful. So when I came across this little face I'd forgotten about I was delighted. Perked the sad mood I woke in, right up (at least for now).

SPINNING HEART

"Spinning Heart" (3-28-16 032v2a) is from those new pix of our rose garden I've been posting from recently. (Which, by the way, keeps on exploding with blossoms. I felt almost guilty for not having the energy late yesterday afternoon to take some more pix. I could just tell the bounty on display would have had me at it a long time, trying this angle and that, this grouping and the other, etc. Although the happy concentration would have numbed me to any foot and knee pain while actually snapping away, I would have "paid" for it on getting home.) Nothing particularly special about today's pic in the sense that I often take pix from this perspective (right up in a rose's face, so to speak). But I so enjoy looking at this clear spiraling pattern that many roses exhibit.
