STORM DOLPHIN; & SUNSET DOLPHIN

"Storm Dolphin" (4-15-14 001v6) was just tortured yesterday out of a rather new photo. It's the first time I've actually liked the results of the "rough pastels" function in Photoshop. But by no means the first time I've tried it. It was the last of many functions, though, that were applied. I forget all that I used in chasing that dolphin like shape that appeared in it after I'd fussed at the pic using "liquify." And here's another version that chases that dolphin, "Sunset Dolphin" (4-15-14 001v3):

GARDEN GIFTS

I said a little prayer as I clicked to upload this photo. (Appropriate I suppose for a photo of a monk statuette.) I'd done so much fussing with it I figured blogger's program would mess even more with the colors, as is its occasional wont. Well, "Garden Gifts" surprised me with the gift of showing up here in the same colors it has in other programs.

PRIDE OF THE EVENING; & SALMON RUN

"Pride of the Evening" (4-15-14 003v2) is from a new photo just edited a day or two ago. (By the way, the name of the plant is "Pride of Madeira," therefore part of the input to the pic's title.) This version has already generated several others. Here's one, "Salmon Run" (4-15-14 003v5):

I've been going back and forth on whether I really like these two enough to post them today. But given my general mood for some time, snow will be falling here in Santa Barbara county before I feel fully enthusiastic about anything I produce. So, here they are, offered in all the glorious ambiguity I can muster. What I can say a bit more definitely is that I enjoyed working in the wider size. Unfortunately, this blog layout doesn't show wider sized photos to their best. I'll have to remember this if I ever decide to switch platforms for my pix. But until I do that, if ever, clicking on any pic posted here does -- in most browsers -- produce a much larger view.

MUSTACHIO MASQUERADE

Sorry 'bout "Mustachio Masquerade" (4-15-14 017v4). I kept seeing handlebar mustaches on these irises and that's what I tried to bring out. Why green? Well, why mustaches on irises. I don't know. I just like this odd combination of colors, I guess.

WHAT IT IS

"What It Is" (2-11-10 19587e) is a really old photo of mine (ever so slightly re-cropped today to make it a true square). Probably the most notable thing about it is I didn't fuss with it at all. So it's a fresh young face sans any make-up at all. I happen to really enjoy taking pix of these sorts of cacti (succulents?). Especially their larger cousins that get to be a couple feet across. And since there's nothing in this pic to give it a sense of scale it could very well be one of the larger kind.

INTIMATE

Sigh, another pic I had to fuss with the colors on just to get them to appear here anywhere close to what they are on all other platforms/programs. And they're still a wee bit off; the actual colors are a bit warmer (more toward the orange end of the spectrum). Anyway, it's called "Intimate" (5-2-10 10051e) and I almost called it "T.M.I." The latter being pretty much what you have here, I suppose. Who really cares about the color discrepancies I experience when viewing my pix, except for me? As to this pic (beyond any color issues) it's no great shakes, for sure. I just sort of like those curly seeds and its overall resemblance to rather intimate female parts.

FALLING STAR

"Falling Star" was just wrestled out of a very old photo of mine. And that's about all I have to say about it. Especially as I'm not really certain I like it all that much. It's just that I'd gone through a bunch of pix, some ready for posting and others needing work, and none were satisfying. So I stopped when I reached this one that at least wasn't telling me to leave it alone or worse put it out of its misery. (Yeah, some clearly required deleting.)
