IN BLACK & WHITE

"In Black & White" (9-2-16 010v2) is a rather new pic, just fudged with today. Had a devil of a time naming it. It looks sort of stormy but those clouds were not storm clouds and I'd guess some folk would know that. And I've used the device of calling an odd pic a dream a bit too often. So I gave up on trying for a more interesting name and used the obvious. And, yes, I both like this pic, and don't like it (due to an issue of visual balance that I stopped trying to fix). I do find its moodiness very appealing. Reflects what mine is like most of the time these days.

LIVING ROOM

"Living Room" (9-21-16 014v2b) is from a brand new pic. I also like the straight forward shot, but it has a big problem I can't seem to balance out. So I took it in this different direction as I do like the overall pic. Of course, it loses some of the obvious humor of that couch facing the curb between those trees. At least it gave me a laugh when I saw it there. This version pleases me, too, though, and is better balanced visually than the straight forward one.

THE DAY GLIDES AWAY

"The Day Glides Away" (9-21-16 033v2) is another brand new pic. I had much difficulty getting the contrast and colors to even sort of work, along with a graininess problem that a lot of color fudging often introduces. So (as usual) I'm still not completely happy with the results of my efforts. But (also as usual) there's enough about it I do like -- the mood and those light filled clouds -- that I'm posting it anyway.

ORCHESTRATING THE COLORS

"Orchestrating the Colors" was taken yesterday and fussed into this shape just now. I made two other versions I saved, and several others I deleted along the way. And can you guess? Of course you can (if you've been reading this blog for any time at all): though I like this version most of all, it pleases me less now that I've been looking at it a while. Won't go into why, as I really like the over all colors but particularly that succulent (is that was it is?) in its sun struck coat of many colors. Even the original photo before my fudging, has an array of (more subtle but still bright) colors as the sun was coming through it from the top and behind. Which was what drew me to take pix. I was tired and achy, and still had a good walk yet to get home. But some things outweigh even old arthritic bones.

THE FOG BURNS OFF

Not sure I'm all that happy with "The Fog Burns Off" (9-2-16 009v2) but haven't any time left to work up any other pic. And, to be honest, there is something about it a like a lot. I just have trouble with its composition (that sea horizon it too close to dead center) and that dark tree in the upper left is a little distracting). But, hey, I like the over feeling it gives me (like what I felt looking at this scene live) and that's more than I can say about many of my pix.

UNDER THE CANOPY

"Under the Canopy" (9-15-16 004v2a) was taken looking up from underneath that favorite jacaranda I pass on my walks to the ocean. I have a slew of different shots of the great array of leafed and bare branches one sees on looking up. And I particularly like the shapes and lines of the bare branches in this shot. I'm not so happy with the title. Especially as something about this shot makes me think of horned animals. But I could not come up with something in that vein that worked.
