SLIPPERY WHEN WET

"Slippery When Wet" (5-18-11 11002ma) was tortured today from a fairly recent version of a very old photo. This was one of those days when I had a hard time settling on a pic that I liked enough to post. I'm still not really content with this one but it will have to do as I'm getting a bit bleary eyed. And don't think any further hunting and working will accomplish anything I'll like more. At least I'm comfortable with these colors.

DRYING UP

"Drying Up" (11-24-15 049v6) is another version of yesterday's pic. There's quite a bit I enjoy looking at in this one. But especially the color combo. It's a rather unusual one for me to like. Yet I do.

EL NIÑO DREAM

"El Niño Dream" (11-24-15 049v3) was morphed from an old photo yesterday. One of those pix I recently re-discovered in my on-going deleting/archiving project. Let's hope our climate here in CA gets to rediscover rain this winter, in amounts and durations we can handle. With all the preparing for floods and slides, one's hope does begin to be tempered by a wee bit of trepidation.

GIVING THANKS

"Giving Thanks" (11-24-15 057v4) was taken yesterday, fussed with a bit then, and I've only just now settled for this version after more fussing. There are lots of little issues I have with it. But trying to improve one makes another worse, and so on. And as I've watched this banana plant go through various stages for many weeks now, not getting any decent shots, I'm delighted to have this "imperfect" one that shows its grace.

BUILDING WITH COLOR

"Building With Color" (10-05-09 7369v12b) is an old version of a very old photo, that I further fudged with yesterday. I'm never very objective about a pic in this sort of rainbow of colors. I find them so pleasing to look at. But I must admit to a little concern that the use of the "polar coordinates -- polar to rectangular" filter (among many others) is rather obvious here to anyone familiar with Photoshop. I'm not sure why, but I like to make a specific filter less rather than more readily recognizable by a viewer. Maybe I'm still feeling apologetic for using Photoshop at all. There is that view I've heard expressed in various ways that "It's not art [or even an attempt thereat], it's only Photoshop."

IN THE SHADOWS

"In the Shadows" (3-26-14 002v6a) is an old photo, just "finished" yesterday. It's one I'd saved because of those lovely shadow shapes, but no matter how I tried over the years, could not develop a decent crop. It had to be cut way down from a much larger, busy picture and I'm still not certain about it. Or put more accurately, I'm concerned that it may seem odd to have included that wilted rose. But it pleases me, so I'm stetting it.

GETTING DROWSY

"Getting Drowsy" (11-24-09 8279v2) was just fussed out of a very old photo yesterday. As I work in my oldest folders I'm grateful to find I have so many rose pictures to remember ours by. Given that the roses in our community's gardens may not survive the drought. And, as I've said here before, that would be sad but understandable. There should probably only be drought resistant flora grown here in this desert climate anyway.
