SUMMER BY THE SEA

"Summer by the Sea" (9-15-16 020v3) was just fussed out of the original pic I took three years ago. Although it hasn't been 3 years since I've seen this view (i.e., made the long walk to the overlook park), it's been way too long ... I miss it. So I was determined to put up a pic of this ocean view. I'm not all that happy with this one, but I don't have the time or inclination left to search out and then work on some other pic taken in Pescadero Park. Unfortunately, the way I've been feeling for many months now (with only one trip to this park in that time) I may not be up to the walk again. Life goes on, but it also changes. And my arthritis is advancing. But this does remain to be seen. I may rally yet. (And, yes, I can catch an occasional ride to the park. It's just that the walk itself is part of the experience. Sigh.)

PLAIT DATE

"Plait Date" (9-15-16 012v3) was just fixed up from an old version made from my original pic, taken three years ago. I've probably posted a different shot/version almost identical to this one that I took/made back then. But as I compare the two on my computer screen today, I like this one more. It's messier -- more shadows across the main palm frond created by some wind action. Making the idea of it looking like hair needing a combing and braiding, all the more reasonable. All I did to it today was fuss at the color/contrast a wee bit and adjust the crop ever so slightly. And, yeah, I managed to get out of that folder of pix I've been wallowing around in for days. Now maybe my mood will follow out of that wallow. LOL! Unintended rhyme, but it does say what I want it to.

THE BIG LET DOWN

"The Big Let Down" (7-28-09 4466v2m) was just morphed from an old, already heavily edited pic. It's in that same folder of pix I've been "stuck" in for a few days. Here's another version of that same pic on my dreams&poetry blog. I find every once in a while that certain images get a grip on my imagination and won't let go. And so I keep at them, torturing new versions from them. It's great fun, actually, to see what new places one can go with the same old same old beneath it all. Kinda, sorta like one's life.

SHATTERED MOON

"Shattered Moon" (7-28-09 4458v7c) was just morphed this morning (as so often) from one of my very old versions of an even older pic of mine. And, yes, the full moon is definitely on my mind -- and really messing with it! It's totally full today (the Sturgeon Moon) which means it's effects will now start to wane. (Leaving me with my more basic crazies, which really don't need the moon fussing at them.) If you'd like to see a very different version of this exact same pic, click here for the post today to my dreams&poetry blog. Both of these pix have clearly been endlessly tortured in Photoshop (and also Microsoft Picture Manager). This is one of those pix that started going wonky on me along the way (getting those tiny little digital boxes) because it had been so heavily edited already. So I'd do what I often do in that case, and played around with various sorts of blurring and other effects to get rid of those pesky boxes. Then those results would suggest other changes to the pic and I'd be off and running again at an often entirely different looking version of the pic. Recently, I've been having great fun with the lasso function. It helps me create a lot of contrasting textures and shapes within one pic.
