Solitary (above) is a new version made today of a two year old photo. Intriguing how it took being in much the same place emotionally and objectively as I was back then to bring out what I'd never quite gotten to in the original version.

Below is another taken that same day, Premonition. In this instance, it's an even more extensive re-visioning.

Some premonitions just don't get through at the time. Only in retrospect; which makes them, well, just sad memories I suppose.

Flutter By (above) is another old photo, just re-visioned late last night. In this case, as opposed to what happened with yesterday's, the original still does not really appeal to me. However, I'm saving the original version as I see possbilities for other croppings and fantasy manipulations of its rain drop wet petals.

For instance, here's another I did last night that I'm not sure about yet (named Seeking the Sun for now):

I rarely work in such pale colors and like the effect. I'm just not sure of the composition or focus. I may start from the original again (saving this version) and see if I can't get the same pale water color effect, yet still maintain a bit more clarity. Anyway, I share it now to illustrate how this particular rain wet blossom triggers lots of ideas for re-visioning.

OK, since I've done so much talking about the original here it is, untitled:

It just never really appealed to me this way (other than for those big rain drops), yet once I start fooling around with it ....

This is one of my oldest photos from August of 2009, but "re-visioned" just this morning. I've always enjoyed looking at those curvy roots but knew there was something more I could bring out that I felt when looking at them. I think this Winter Harbor version comes pretty close; while, not unexpectedly, reflecting the chilling of my mood today.

Not to end on that note, here's another photo from that same time period, also just re-edited this morning. I thought of calling it "Tiny Bubbles in the Wine." But then that warm colored shape began to resemble a space suited figure to me and I can imagine that curve across the background as a planetary surface. So, its title is Space Walk.

Cyclopian Wink is another years old photo that I slightly re-edited today. It was taken in that same batch of blooms I shared pictures from here yesterday. I'd always thought it was interesting but hadn't ever titled or posted it. But today when I fussed with the color a little bit it came more to "life" for me. Then the title popped up or, staying with the metaphor in the name of this photo, winked at me suddenly.

And below is the original version, which I've just named Lemon Fizz. As often happens when I edit a really old photo I'm close to scrapping and for which I develop a new version I like, the old version is "redeemed" somehow. Such is the case here. (Or maybe it's just that looking at it makes me salivate, reminding me it's lunch time!)

I've been sharing a lot of old photos that I've recently extensively manipulated on the computer. So when I stumbled across this one I thought it would be nice to share a really old one that's barely edited at all. Just cropped, and brightened a wee bit. It's called Three Generations. And every time I come across it wandering through my photo folders I'm tickled by these three "faces," and the straight lines the greenery makes behind them. The arrangement could be more interesting, but there's also something old-fashioned about this picture. As if they'd been sitting unmoving like folk had to do for the earliest photos, waiting until exposure was complete. I could also do a little "clean-up" painting out in the lower left of the wide open bloom and lower right corner. All that said, though it's an admittedly flawed effort I still enjoy looking at it.

The Way of All Wood is an over three year old photo that I just made this new version for this morning. I found myself wandering around its old folder, filled with pictures of trees I'd taken. And wishing I was still able to do that approximately 2 mile round trip photo walk I'd do several times a week.

And here's another from that same folder, just edited today, Clairvoyance:

I definitely have trees on the brain today. Here's a link to a photo from that same folder that I posted to my other blog this morning. The name of that photo, Soul Support, pretty much expresses how I feel about trees.

NEAR AND FAR (greeting card)

Near and Far is another of the several greeting cards I'd planned to offer for ordering in my photo exhibit this month, which I've since cancelled. Don't know if I'll ever do any promoting of these designs. It's a lot of work and for not much profit, nor much fun either. I did really enjoy designing the cards, though. (FYI, the cards are printed on card stock, 5"X7", blank inside, with a white envelope.)

The buildings in this card design may look familiar. I've posted that photo to this blog not long ago. The buildings are on the grounds of the retirement community I live in, as were the flowers. Over all, my photos are frequently taken really close or at quite a distance. Much like my inner life's moods, one extreme or the other.
