LANKY LADIES

"Lanky Ladies" (8-13-17 006v2) is a very new pic I just finished fussing at a crop for today. That's just about all I did to it. I even tried making it a more usual shape but I like how this tall one echoes the flowers and the palm trunk. I think these are canna lilies. I rarely see them in these colors, and the leaves are usually darker and striped in reds and oranges. Yep, they're cannas. I just uploaded this pic to Google images and got that confirmed. BTW, it was a lightly hazy morning when I snapped this pic and I was hopeful that would make for a clear pic. So although I have some small issues with it, I'm delighted with the clarity of this photo. Usually at this time of morning the bright sun (even when a bit hazed over) makes for poor shots that I then use as "templates" for artsy or abstract pix. Of course, given my propensity for fussing endlessly at fave pix, this one may wind up in weird versions, as well. :-)

FLIGHT OF THE HAWK

"Flight of the Hawk" (8-15-17 003v3f) was morphed yesterday from a day's old version of a new pic. I've been rather enamored of this photo and its versions, which is not an unusual thing for me. I get "caught" on a pic, and sometimes a folder of photos. I don't think I've ever consciously identified what the hook is for any particular pic or pix. I just have great fun seeing where their shapes and colors will take me. I'm not surprised "hawk" was suggested to me by this one. When I was at the beach overlook park today I wondered when I might see a hawk again. Probably not 'til next spring, I'd imagine. BTW, this pic reminds me of what it felt like the time a hawk flew over my head from behind so close that it could have taken my cap off.

NUEVA SONRISA

"Nueva Sonrisa" (8-15-17 003v3c) was just now morphed from that new pic I've been fooling with I took only two days ago. It just keeps calling me back ... There's an awful lot of editing beneath this result. The newest thing I've been trying is to drastically adjust the gauges within the "paint daubs" filter. BTW, in titling it I was fooling with emphasizing that sort of pendant coral/orange breast shape. But the mountains (the green shapes that cup it [you should pardon the unintended pun]) also jump out at me. So I decided to leave it to the viewer to make what they will of this new sunrise. And since I so often complain about issues I have with pix I post, I should note that I'm very happy with this one. In fact, don't see one thing to pick at. Kinda scary to say that. I can just imagine a viewer then setting about to very readily give it a negative critiquing. But, nu? I like it.

EVEN THE FERNS RE-IMAGINE THEMSELVES

"Even the Ferns Re-Imagine Themselves" (8-15-17 003v4) was just taken a bit earlier today. I have several realistic versions that could be post-able with a little bit of work, but they're an awful lot like other pix I've already put up here of this same fern. This one, however, breaks out a bit from that mold. Or I certainly hope so.

RISING TO THE OCCASION

"Rising to the Occasion" (2-13-17 007v2) is one I've had in mind for some time but never actually worked it up (if you'll pardon the unintended illusion) from the original much larger pic. It's been so sexual in its implications from my first taking the pic. I've posted other pix here that clearly referenced (even in title) the male member, but this one is the most overt. As I was working on it (LOL! and blush) I recalled Georgia O'Keeffe's fabulous paintings of flowers that have been said to represent female genitalia, while taking a stand within the masculine-dominated art world. And I decided not only to go with this male one, but to post it. Not that anything I have or could ever do comes close to her eye and artistry. I just hope she'd not feel I'm taking a step backward by, um, (attempting) to honor the masculine. For me, it's actually quite a rebellion to express this freely and with only a minimum of mental blushing. And that, to me, is liberating. As to the pic as a pic, I kinda sorta like it. Have some little issues with it, but they're minor and not fixable (at least at my current level of Photoshop skill).

DIVERGENT PATHS

"Divergent Paths" (8-13-17 018v2) was just fussed from its original pic taken earlier today. I've taken many shots of this view and posted at least a couple of the results I'm sure. But I always have trouble with certain aspects of this particular scene. And I did again: that tall tree in the upper left always shows up so dark that it's quite distracting. (Even as cropped way back as it is here.) However, this time I had the lasso function in Photoshop in my arsenal. I'm still learning when and how best to try using it .. and it worked this time! One essentially draws a loop around the only area one wants effected by a filter/function. Not as simple as it sounds and not always effective. But it's been a boon a couple of times recently. I lightened those dang leaves and even changed their hue a wee bit, without effecting anything else in the pic. Yes! BTW, I did do other work, mostly on colors and contrasts, and a wee bit of diffusing and sharpening. It was good to feel like taking pix on this gorgeous day. I then walked over that footbridge down as far as one can see in this pic, and sat on my walker, editing some of my poems. It was also good to be reminded of all there is to be grateful for in this life.
