HIDDEN DRAGON

"Hidden Dragon" (8-18-15 004v4e) was morphed a couple weeks ago from an old pic, and just slightly cropped today to better balance it out visually. Its source pic (itself an even older morph of the original pic) is one I came across doing my on-going archiving/deleting project.

SWING BREAK

"Swing Break" (2-27-17 037v2) is a very new pic, just picked on again a wee bit today. That's probably two UCSB students in that swing, as I was walking past many rows of student housing when the scene caught my eye. And that's the Channel Islands in the distance under the low line of clouds on the ocean. This scene was just a few buildings past the scene of the pic I posted here a couple days ago, "The End of the Road."

SKIRTING THE SKY; & LOOKING FOR THE SUN

"Skirting the Sky" (2-13-17 007v2) was just now "finished" from a very new pic. As almost always, there's stuff I'm happy with about it and stuff I'm not. Mostly I fall on the side of "like," though. And here's another, "Looking for the Sun" (2-13-17 004v2), taken the same day:

END OF THE ROAD

"End of the Road" (2-27-17 035v2) was just taken yesterday and worked on now (cropping, with a bit of color work and some sharpening). This was my first sighting of these stairs to the sea, as I'd not walked the considerable distance to the road -- Camino del Sur -- leading to it, and then hiked all the way down it before. Those are the Channel Islands beneath those clouds on the horizon that I've shared so many other shots of here, taken in the beach overlook park at the end of Camino Pescadero. BTW, I think the last bit of sharpening I did may have been a mistake. Well, maybe I'll go back to the original (which I always keep of my pix for just such an event) and do it over and stop at less sharpening. Maybe, maybe not. I still really like its mood, as is.

OCEAN SUNSET

"Ocean Sunset" (10-7-15 003v3p) is an old morph of an old pic, just further fudged with a few days ago and a tiny bit this morning. Have somewhat mixed feelings about it, but overall like it enough to post. Probably mostly because I actually like that scratchy effect. Usually I'd go right after that scratchy look with diffuse or blur or some such filter to get rid of it. I often wonder how much of certain editing tendencies of mine are truly aesthetic choices, or just habits -- the pull of the familiar. So here I both like the scratches and am a little uncomfortable with them. Maybe that's all to the good. I need to explore new territory (and not just in my photo work, in my life as a whole).

FUCHSIA ON HER MIND

Been a long time since I've shared, much less taken, a pic of this sort of bloom. Only partly my choice, as the drought's not promoted their healthy growth. We'll see once May comes around this year, though, after all this rain (smile). "Fuchsia on Her Mind" (4-14-16 009v2) is heavily color saturated. The tones in this pic version are in the original photo, only much intensified here. The original tends more to the bright pink and is lovely, but I'm all too partial to fuchsia.
