IMPRESSED

"Impressed" (9-29-16 001v3) is one of those pix best viewed in a larger version, so click on the image if you're interested in seeing the details (which abound). To my eye, it has a vaguely Halloween-like (bone yard) feel to it which is not surprising given the holiday is just a few weeks away. And I've had my costume for our community's party ready -- all but for making the head-dress -- for some time now. As to the pic, it's clearly been heavily fudged with. Especially alternating the diffuse filter with sharpening, many times over. I have a decent straight forward version of the original pic which should be ready for posting soon. (Just have some bits of painting out of distracting spots in it yet to do. And as I've said here many times before, that's my least favorite thing about working on pix. In fact I'd say it's the only thing I don't enjoy doing. Unless maybe it's cropping out a portion of a photo I really like for the sake of the pic as a whole. But that's more a sorrow than a dislike.)

HUNG OUT TO DRY

"Hung Out to Dry" (9-15-16 011v2) was just finished today from a new pic. I posted a different shot of this same palm frond a couple weeks ago. And there will probably be others coming; I have several black and white shots almost ready to go.

LATTER DAY PETROGLYPH

"Latter Day Petroglyph" (10-3-11 11324v10b) was just morphed from (yup) an old version of a much older pic. It was the side product of a lengthy effort to produce a pic for my dreams&poetry blog post this morning. Glad I saved it as, honestly, I like it more (though not unreservedly) than the one I ultimately settled on to go with today's poem (click here to see that post).

RAGING HORMONES

"Raging Hormones" (10-3-11 11324v15i) was just morphed from an old version of (yes) an even older pic. It was heavily influenced by a conversation I had not even an hour ago with a woman friend about the title subject. Yeah, even at this far end of life some of us women find ourselves in this situation. I, for one, even vaguely pity any man who might strap on a pair and take me on. ROTFLMAO! (Google it if you don't know what it means. :-D)

NO ESCAPING THE GHOSTS

"No Escaping the Ghosts" (10-3-11 11324v15h) was just morphed from an old version of an even older pic. Lots of fudging done here, layer after layer. The most obvious (and about the only one I specifically recall as I just did it, along with color and contrast adjustments) being the glowing lines filter in Photoshop. Also lots of fussing to counteract a tendency to go wonky, given it's been so over-edited. Somehow that's fitting, though. As if "wonky" is just another way to say "filled with ghosts of the past."

A VISIT FROM THE CHANNEL ISLANDS

It's a very hot day so my walk to the beach was rather low energy, and my mood was not great to begin with. But I was still managing to be distracted (it's the only way to describe what happens) into enjoying the day. So when I looked up from maneuvering my walker around some obstacle to see the Channel Islands ("A Visit from the Channel Islands" 9-26-16 007v2) shining there in the ocean I yipped out loud with joy. I've never seen them this clearly. In fact, have rarely even seen a hint of them. And the ocean was filled with UCSB student surfers, and the sun was making gems on the ocean. Wow. It made the even hotter walk home well worth it.

THE REMAINS OF HOPE

"The Remains of Hope" (7-28-09 4466v3) was just morphed from one of my oldest pix. And, yes, it reflects my on-going (and worsening) mood these days. (These many days, actually more like months now.) At least doing this pic work and writing poetry gives me some relief, taking me as they do into a somewhat different state of consciousness. As do taking long walks and encountering wonderful old trees. At least for a bit. As to this pic, I didn't do a whole lot to it. But it had already been worked on years ago so has older fudging beneath and effecting what I did today.
