OUT OF THE SHADOWS

"Out of the Shadows" (6-12-16 010v2b) has been hanging around in its folder, ready to post for a little over a month. I've come close to posting it before but now can't recall what problem I had with it that stopped me. Maybe those large patches of white space? Well, at least today, they don't bother me ... of course, I just made note of them, so who knows how I'll feel later. However, overall, I like this pic. I have a full color version and a black and white, but like this best.

ON ALERT

"On Alert" (11-27-15 001v5) is from an old pic and has been in my folder since torturing it out of the original months ago. I "kinda, sorta" like it and I'm glad I made a note of it. As I was having a devil of a time coming up with a brand new pic to post here today. Sometimes the law of diminishing returns takes over and I have to give up and look for an already prepared pic. Which I have many of, just usually not ones I like as much as new ones.

ONLY THE SUN STILL VISITS

"Only the Sun Still Visits" (7-13-16 001v5) was taken yesterday and worked on just now. I have a decent full color version (warm red house, green leaves, beige/greyish wood etc.). But black and white better gets across the feeling I had when looking through this barricading fence at that abandoned house. (BTW, I almost made it all the way to the beach overlook on that walk I took this during. I haven't made it to the ocean in years, maybe next walk I'll bring back pix of it!)

AN AFTERNOON SMOKE

"An Afternoon Smoke" (7-10-16 002v3) is a brand new pic, just cropped and fixed up a little bit yesterday. It was taken from that favorite spot of mine to sit and read, or write, or take pix, or just sort of doze and wool gather: a balcony overlooking our community's pool. I did try a wider shot which makes the "puff of smoke" stand out more as the sky had not one other cloud in it. But there is always so much going on in a wider shot from the balcony that I could not find a crop of it that worked.

HOLDING UP THE NIGHT

"Holding Up the Night" (7-10-16 007v4) is another taken in that parking garage a couple days ago. And it's one of those pix of mine that I like ... but ... And even given that "but" (the totally black space in the upper left that's a bit distracting) that I couldn't find a way to de-emphasize, I still enjoy it's overall effect. Oh, well, as I say here often, nothing's perfect.
