Fall's Footprint is from another photo that's over three years old; this version just made this morning. It's also another of mine that I'm rather unsure about when I look at it critically. Especially since it's about to go "wonky" due to being taken with my old, even lower low pixel count camera and heavily cropped. (There's only so much I can do to make "early stage wonk" look like watercolor and/or that I intended the effect.) But something still calls to me. Unfortunately for any of you viewers, I do tend to relate to my photos as I do my dreams. Even the vaguest, most fragmented sometimes compel my attention.

The original for Painting on Velvet is barely a month old. I just made this version of it this morning, after several false starts.

Hope you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving. Despite my grumpy mood I'm very aware of all there is for which to be grateful in my own life. Not the least on that considerable list being the opportunity to fool around pretty much to my hearts' content, every morning, at this computer.

Another very old picture that I've just re-worked this morning: Night/Fall. I'd actually come to my computer thinking to post a straight forward photo for a change. I.e., without a lot of "post-production" work on it. But it seems my imagination is demanding its due these days and I can't resist following down what it suggests. By the way, when I move beyond a literal (straight forward) photo I don't actually have a road map all laid out in my mind. It's more like approaching something vague seen through various obfuscating layers. The editing process peels it clear of those veils, often little by little. And I'm always surprised -- for "good" or for "ill" -- by what I ultimately wind up with on my computer screen.

The original for Don't Burst My Bubble is over three years old; this new version just made this morning. That bright bubble back then of my new life in California has long since popped. However, in a way, each moment is always a fragile bubble, bursting or gently popping into the next one.

Mapping the Galaxy is an old revision of an old photo that I just came across today wandering among other pictures of rain wet flora. We've been having some rain (which we need) so I'm not surprised to have found myself drawn unconsciously to its folder.

And here's a new version of the same photo made this morning, Orbiting the Moon:

I spent a lot of time working on some of the other photos in that folder of flora wearing rain gems, but didn't feel happy with any of the results. Even these above don't really send me into orbit. But they are mildly evocative of spaces far beyond and for that brief respite from too much introspection I am grateful.
