PEELING THE APPLE

"Peeling the Apple" (8-15-17 003v3g) was morphed about a week and a half ago from a new pic. (I posted it to my dreams&poetry blog several days back.) What else to say about it? Except that I had the usual fun fudging with it in Photoshop and Microsoft Picture Manager. Also, that the original is of a favorite fern plant I pass at least twice daily. I do have a little issue with it (that aqua/green color) but haven't found anything else that looks any better without effecting other colors I don't want to change. And I'm too tired right now to keep trying (was up very early this morning and feel a nap coming on). So I'll share this pic, as is. And maybe work on it some other time.

FALL STEPS IN

"Fall Steps In" (8-21-17 007v5) was just fussed out of its original pic; one of those taken in Anisqoyo Park that I've been working on for a few days and sharing from here. Like many of my pix, I liked it more when it first popped on my screen in this form. But even though I now have some little issues with it, I do enjoy that autumnal feeling it gives me. And it was fun developing that sort of water color look. (There is a filter called "water color," but it's never worked to my satisfaction; so I wind up fussing using a considerable number of other filters, etc., to get this effect.) The live scene was less fall-like, however I was surprised at that dry leaf covered mound in the foreground. It's only late August. Guess I've just never noticed before that autumn starts earlier here than back east (New York City and environs, where I hail from).

THE CROSSING

"The Crossing" (8-13-17 0017v3) was just fudged from its new original pic this morning. Another version of the same pic, very similar, is posted to my dreams&poetry blog today with a poem. I'm just so fond of this view in Anisqoyo Park. It did present quite a problem with the lamp globe (upper right) as it was almost white and was very distracting. I tried all sort of things, including going very "artsy" with texture and unreal colors and such. But nothing worked. Then I recalled my newest Photoshop skill, using the lasso function. And, voila! Just the globe's been toned way down and hopefully doesn't jump out as much to a viewer's eye. I realize the pic is "cut" in two halves by the fences on either side and the path. Usually a no-no in composition. But I'm leaning to liking it as the concrete path isn't static, if you will, but carries the viewer's eye (at least this viewer's) from the bottom of the pic, right on to the trees & far street scene beyond.

LEANING INTO THE NIGHT

"Leaning Into the Night" (8-21-17 006v4) was morphed yesterday from a new pic. In fact, the one I posted two versions of here yesterday. Just love those wiggly tree trunks!

NIGHT LIGHTS; & [untitled]

"Night Lights" (8-21-17 006v5a) was just fussed out of its original pic. It's one of those best viewed in a larger version (it's "textured"), so click on the image if you're interested. I've been wanting to take pix of this particular view the last few times I rolled by it with my walker. But was more anxious to settle in a few yards away in the shade of a palm and do some editing of my newest poems. This time I stopped as I really liked the accumulation of fallen leaves beneath the trees. Of course, the cropping and editing process has down-played them a bit, but they at least got me to finally take a few shots of all this flora. And I still have two originals in which the fallen leaves play a more prominent role. I'll probably try working out a version or two honoring them. BTW, the original was not a night shot; I inverted the colors, then brought them back to natural for what became "Night Lights." And now that I look at an only lightly fussed at version ([untitled] 8-21-17 006v2a) of the original photo again, I almost like it more:

THE BORDERS OF THE UNIVERSE

"The Borders of the Universe" (5-27-17 023v4) was just tortured from its original fairly new pic. As I've said time and again here, I just love these sorts of tree roots. They endlessly tickle my imagination. And given I've been feeling for days now like the world's nothing but a dull and painful place, anything that tickles me in any way is quite welcome.
