HIDING IN THE SHADOWS

"Hiding in the Shadows" (3-24-16 007v3) is a fairly recent version of a three month old pic. All I did to it today was clean up a few minor distractions in those leafy shadows and resize it for blog posting. I wonder why it's taken me so long to want to post it. Maybe I had to be yearning for shadows to hide in before I really liked it? And hide out today is what I'd really like to do.

HOPE BURNS

"Hope Burns" (3-24-16 015v2e) was just morphed now from a three month old pic. I've already got several other versions of this crop of a larger photo that looks straight down into the open center of a white rose with goldish seeds. Not an unusual shot for me either to take or to enjoy fooling around with endlessly. But this one's mood and title reflect my sense today that I'd rather not be hopeful about anything, it's too painful. Yet, as that famous line (from some poem I'm too lazy to google for) goes: "hope springs eternal," to which I'll add "anyway."

CRADLE OF MORNING

Yikes! More ferns! Hey, they're a far healthier binge than those M&M's that have been calling to me from the vending machine these days. I've also posted a different version of "Cradle of Morning" (6-6-16 005v3b) to my dreams&poetry blog today. The folder this pic is in has a slew of other pix of this same favorite fern, enough to keep me busy for some time. And, of course, be forewarned as new pix of it will be taken. It's different, as is the time of day, the weather, the angles from which I view it, etc., every time I pass it. A good reminder for me that everything in life (including us) morphs in big and/or little ways all the time. All we need do is be present for the show.

AT A CROSSROADS

Yeah, what can I say, I'm a bit bored with what I've been producing. So I'm trying different ways of cropping, etc. Overall, there's nothing in particular I dislike about "At A Crossroads" (5-2-16 002v8) but there's also nothing I really like. It's one of those pix of mine that gives me a decidedly meh feeling. There's something so obvious about the crop, or maybe not obvious enough. And I have no time to fuss at some other, different pic. So, meh feeling and all, here it is.

LEANING INTO SUMMER

"Leaning Into Summer" (6-12-16 010v2) is a brand new pic, just now cropped and fussed with a wee bit in other ways. Mostly to get the color contrasts right. This is a lawn on which there used to be a regular croquet game, and many years back a wedding reception (cake and all) was held on it. The rose garden from which I garner so many flower pix is out of frame, over to the left. Those "globes" of agapanthus are fun to watch as they open from tight bunches of buds. And the leaves of those trees glisten like gems in the sun. Maybe someday I'll either be lucky enough or have developed the skills to get a decent pic of that glistening.

MOON OF MOURNING

"Moon of Mourning" (6-12-16 001v4) was morphed this morning from a brand new pic (another shot of the same rose I posted a pic of yesterday). Nothing much else to say other than to acknowledge how heavily Photoshopped it is. And that it's "feel" and title are even more heavily determined by my mood. (Whether it's my mood or not I can't tell, but the more I look at this pic, the less I like it. So that's a big clue I should just leave it be and move on to all the other computer work I have left to do.)

THE HEART OF SURRENDER

"The Heart of Surrender" (6-12-16 002v2) is a brand new pic, just now worked on (cropping, some color adjustment, and a little painting out of distracting schmutz). Kinda, sorta like it, but can't really tell. Given the news of that terror attack in Orlando and some other sorts of difficult emotional stuff I'm going through the thought "what does it matter anyway" keeps waving in front of my attention.
