DREAMING UP A LIFE

Wonder how long this streak will last? "Dreaming Up A Life" (10-3-11 11324v14p) is now the eighth morph I've posted in a row of the same old pic version. (See previous post for more details.) In a way, its title pretty much describes what I'm doing with any pic or poem I work on. But recently my dream world is about the only situation I find myself in where I'm not in physical and emotional pain. So the title is even a bit more to the point, if you will. I hasten to add, morphing pix and writing poems are much like the dream world: a relief. Laughter with a dear friend of mine, is also a help. Back to this pic: it started going wonky on me (getting all pixelated) and no surprise, given how much editing it's been through. (I haven't been going back to the original, but continuing on from a previous morphed version.) However, that "wonkiness" just became another interesting challenge to get around somehow. (Can you spell "blur," children?)

ON THE DRAWING BOARD

OK, yep, I almost blush to admit that "On the Drawing Board" (10-3-11 11324v4) is now the seventh morph in a row of that same old original pic version I've posted (between this blog and my dreams&poetry blog). This morning I was fussing at several new versions I'd made, and rather unhappily. Just could not readily "fix" a little problem common to them all. And didn't have the time to open Photoshop -- I'd been doing some color and contrast adjustments in Microsoft Picture Manger -- and work on them in PS. Then I took a total, last ditch flyer in MSPicManager before logging off my computer and wound up here, "On the Drawing Board." What fun. Almost makes my omnipresent and more than usually intense arthritic pains take a flyer, too. (Thinks it's the wet weather that's aggravating the arthritis.) BTW, when I say today's is a seventh version, that's only counting it as one of those that I've chosen to post. The folder has (are you ready for it?) 57 morphs, all told. Most with little problems I think could be worth struggling to "fix." LOL...trying to "fix" little distracting issues is pretty much how I've wound up with 57 versions to begin with. An attempt will too often lead me in another direction entirely with the pic as a whole.

A TRIP ON THE RIVER STYX

"A Trip on the River Styx" (10-3-11 11324v2bb) was just morphed a day or two ago from a very old version of an even older original pic of mine. Between this blog and my dreams&poetry blog, I've now posted six different versions of this same crop of this old photo -- in the past three days, with no other pix posted in those days. Blush ... I'm accustomed to getting caught working in the same folder for a length of time. But I do think this is the first time I've actually posted different versions of the same pic six times in a row. The experience is a bit like going deep (this one pic) as opposed to going wide (different pix in different folders). Neither's better. Just different. Let me modify that statement a bit: for me, going deep tends to wander the wild and wooly imaginative realms. Whereas going wide, tends to stay closer to the representational.

IT DAWNS ON US ALL

"It Dawns On Us All" (10-3-11 11324v22) was just morphed and re-morphed endlessly (which is probably obvious! :-D). I simply could not settle on a version but kept getting pulled to try something quite different with it (of course, first saving the version I was about to leave). In fact, I feel a bit rushed to get this one up before it, too, "goes cold" right before my eyes and I wander off to try something else (yet again). The upshot is, though, I have a folder jam packed with different morphs of this same pic. I suspect I'll find this a good resource once my mood improves. Right now I'm tempted to say "if" my mood gets better. Yeah, it's one of those days. So much so I was surprised to find myself following the lead of some of the pix I made today, into more cheery looking realms. I actually found it difficult to maintain, much less develop those with a fully dark aspect. Odd, as usually my mood gets reflected in what gets morphed.

AUTUMN SEED

"Autumn Seed" (10-3-11 11324v6) ... yeah, odd orientation. In it's original form -- it's been sitting in it's folder for years -- it was 90 degrees right, more visually balanced. But also sort of stale, if you will. Of course, that perception of mine today may be more a result of it having been hanging around for so long. :-) However, there is that about this new orientation that I do really like. More dynamic. As if the seed is actually just now forming. How's that for an attempt to rationalize the urge to shake my photo work up a bit? (BTW, I also did some other fussing at this old pic. But just minor changes such as fixing color contrasts a bit, and a wee bit of difusion and sharpening.)

A WINTER'S DISCONTENT

"A Winter's Discontent" (10-10-18 007v3d) was just endlessly picked at to bring it to this pass. (Who's discontent?) I have (can you guess?) several other versions that I actually made after this one. But as often happens, once I've fussed the behoositz out of a pic, I find an earlier version more to my liking. And that's definitely the case here. If "like" is really the right word to describe how I feel about it. At least I can say it reflects my "knotty," chilly mood. (BTW, this was originally a pic of those eucalyptus tree roots I'm often taking pix of and morphing to my heart's content. Though I rarely actually fudge the shapes of the roots, just everything else. :-D)
