Midnight in the Garden, well, what can I say about this one? It's messy, but evocative. Unclear, yet I see it as vaguely resembling a watercolor painting. The colors? Well, I've never been happy with the greens the programs I have give me. And then there's my advancing cataracts, which are slightly effecting my color perception I'm afraid. The cropping is at best quirky ... and yet I still like it. So there. (BTW, it's a heavily edited version I just made this morning of a very new photo.)

Resolution is a version I just made this morning of a very new photo. As you'll see from the untitled and not very satisfying original version immediately below, I was drawn totally to the center of this late season bloom:

And this next one below is another edit made this morning, In the Blink of An Eye, in which the focus is just beginning to go "wonky." (I.e., get those tiny little squares.) Actually "Resolution" is also just about to go wonky. I came very close to buying a higher pixel count camera on credit yesterday, so I could do just this sort of really tight cropping and heavy editing with less concern for degradation of focus. But I restrained myself and will stick to my original plan of getting a new computer system first. Anyway, here's "In The Blink of An Eye":

Over three years old and not worked on since first taken, It's A Toss Up has a lot wrong with it. And yet, and yet ... I like the color contrasts and the dance the various groupings create together. Yeah, a bit messy, but enjoyable (at least to me). Like the corps de ballet of a top knotch troupe on an off night.

The original for Hesitation is two years old. I just made the above version this morning, along with another version accompanying the dream poem post to my dreams & poetry blog. It's another of that kind of picture that keeps tugging at my imagination when I stumble across it.

The above version of an old photo, just re-worked today, is called By Fall's Light.

The one below is a new version made this morning of another shot taken that same day over a year ago, Fall's Umbrella:

Can you tell I'm being influenced by memories of spectacular fall leaf displays I remember from when I lived in New York? In these photos I'm just trying to get at the light that one sees. I also really enjoy the curves on that plant (cactus? succulent? neither?). I don't think either picture as I've re-worked it really captures fall light as I remember it. But they do bring out those curves.

Soaking It Up is almost two and a half years old, but just revised today (mostly just cropping). I'd forgotten about this particular folder of pictures, many of which need revision or deleting. When I stumble across an old folder of photos like this one is in I almost always rejoice. It's as if I'd taken a whole new batch to work on.
