Waiting for Peter Pan is another of my oldest photos, just edited today. Thought I'd try working up a more representational picture for a change. But, as you can see, I could not resist taking it partway into fantasy just the same. This grouping (from a different angle) is what one first sees on walking inside our retirement community grounds front gate. It's one of those views I've taken many photos of, in all kinds of light and weather and from many different angles. I've not tired of it yet even after five years of passing it at least twice daily.

OK, since I'm in this creative slough I might as well take a total flyer and post something I like but have serious doubts about, In Light of Spring. The original is a very old picture and I've obviously extensively fooled around with it. What I like? That it looks like a sketch. I also like the curves and lines of the tree roots. But it may be too far now from representational to offer anything, except to me who's aware of its "roots" in a more straight forward picture. However, maybe just putting out something this different will shake some viable creative energy loose.

Answering the Call showed up on my computer screen after a lenghthy session working on photo after photo with no satisfying results. It was a relief to see it. It was initially in brightened and intensified sepia tones and it works fine that way, radiating nicely. But I wanted to see what it would look like closer to the color of the original blossom, therefore this version which I like somewhat more. I so hope these photo doldrums pass soon. Neither the "templates" of the unedited pictures, nor what I do with them are coming out all that well these days. Hm, the full moon arrived today. Maybe I'll calm down enough now to see more clearly.

Soliloquy is from that recent batch of pix, worked on both yesterday and today. I kept trying to find a different color scheme for it as I fear my prediliction for the above family of colors will become boring to any viewer. However, I just could not find other colors that worked as well with the total picture, with what this scene "feels" like to me. For instance, in its natural colors of bright red flower and very green leaves it looks like a loud operatic aria, and sung off-key at that. So (admittedly happily) I gave up and retained the above colors.

Before There Were Roses, above, is in that brand new batch of photos I've been posting from. I watch carefully for the return of rose branches after the yearly garden buzz cut in late winter. Their fresh little red leaves turn green so quickly. (No complaints about the green because that heralds blossoms.)

And here below is another version of a slightly differfent shot taken the same day, Gold Leaf:

I considered titling this one "Bronzed," as the leaves almost seem preserved that way. But to truly look bronzed I'd have had to change the color a bit and I like it as is. So let them look as if painted with "Gold Leaf." Which, by the way, tempted me to call it "Goldfinger."

Night Vision, above, is a brand new photo, just worked on yesterday.

Through the Looking Glass, immediately above, has the same tree in the distance, and is in the same batch of pix as "Night Vision."

Still not having any creative epiphanies, though hopefully spring will eventually be the season for them.
