FUCHSIALADE

"Fuchsialade" (4-19-23 12548v2) is one of those few pix that all I did to it was to crop it, paint out one tiny distraction, and slightly tone down the yellow in that green "arm." I rediscovered it a few weeks back during my on-going archiving/deleting project and cropped and re-cropped it endlessly. As I did so I recalled having done the same thing when I first took it over two years ago to no satisfactory end. But finally stumbled on this crop. All those wonderful spear-shaped buds, yes. And this crop only shows a small portion of what that pot held. (BTW, this same pot of blossoms produced a very small crop indeed this year. Due to the drought it isn't getting the watering it really needs to flourish. Same all around our grounds. Yet, here and there, occasional spectacular blossoms still appear in our various flower pots and gardens.)

OVER THE EDGE

"Over the Edge" (4-24-13 12606v5a) is fun to me for a couple of reasons, and neither because I think it's such a good pic (I don't). But for it's a new (for me) and more effective use of the emboss filter (that produced those sorts of dark shadows that can be seen best at the top). And it's colors are unusual given what I automatically gravitate toward. I also have to admit something about that curved rush across the space -- like a water fall -- appeals to me. In a slightly different earlier version it put me in mind of lemmings going over a cliff. LOL, wonder what that says about my mood today.

STEPPING OUT

OK, time for a realistic pic for a change. "Stepping Out" (5-1-13 12678ev2) is a new crop of an old photo, with a little fussing for color saturation, clean-up, and contrast. I've been checking our rose garden almost daily for new rose pix, but given the drought (even with the new drip lines installed beneath it) it's not doing very well. Even so, we have had a couple spectacular blooms. But when they were out I was in a rush. Those are the times I think maybe I should keep my camera hanging on a strap around my neck so I can take pix "on the fly by." Instead of having to fumble to dig it out of my purse while balancing my walking stick and whatever else I'm carrying ... and then (often enough, to my dismay) find I have to take even more time to put in new batteries! Ah, the travails of a wannabe photog.

THE GATHERING STORM

"The Gathering Storm" (5-10-13 12650v4) was just morphed a few days ago and tweaked a bit this morning, from an old photo. I think I'm most urged to post it by these colors. However, I also like how the "angled strokes" filter works with the shapes in this pic. It's a filter I almost always try when morphing a pic, but rarely save as its effect almost never works for me. Actually, that's true of the vast majority of the big range of filters I fuss with. I'm curious to see the results of each but wind up only keeping a few. And there are some I don't think I've ever saved to a photo. But, you never know .... especially as my tastes change over time, and I also get bored with the "same old, same old" ....

CROSSING THE LINE

"Crossing the Line" (5-27-15 024v2a) was morphed this morning from a relatively new pic. The source photo is of another of one of my favorite growing things to look at and photograph, stag horn ferns. For some reason I don't often get decent straight forward shots of them. So usually wind up fudging with them, as I did this one. Actually the original realistic crop of today's pic isn't all that bad, but it's also not all that interesting. I'm happier with this morph. It speaks more to what drew me to take the photo to begin with. Even though it no longer looks like a stag horn fern.

SHUTTERBUG

"Shutterbug" (5-1-13 12632ev4d) was just morphed this morning from an earlier version of an old photo. (Nu? :-D) It's actually already gone over the edge into wonky from so much fussing at it, and reclaimed (kinda, sorta) with further fussing. I finally had to give my child self the say on whether or not to post it since I couldn't make up my mind if it was worth it. Of course I know she's awfully fond of these sorts of bright colors and swirly shapes so the outcome was pretty much assured.

SWEEPING SHADOWS

Some time has passed since I've posted a fern branch pic. "Sweeping Shadows" (5-24-15 059v6) was just morphed this morning, after chasing after a series of other sorts of pix without catching something pleasing or at least different. This one finally wound up different enough and is of one of my favorite subjects. So, tag, you're "it"!
