THE AWAKENING

"The Awakening" (5-10-13 12744v2a) was just morphed today from (as usual) on old version of an even older original pic. Kind, sorta like it. Given the tough morning it's been so far, that's actually saying quite a lot. I.e., that I can actually get my focus off my internal cloud of misery onto something external. BTW, I'd suggest viewing this in a larger version, so just click on the image if you'd like.

WHAT SHE HAS TO OFFER

"What She Has to Offer" (5-10-13 12651ev8b) is an old version of an old pic that I just very slightly diffused this morning. It's often the case when I find old pix like this one I like, that since working on and forgetting about it, I've learned more Photoshop skills. Many times, one or more of those new skills fix whatever little thing bothered me about a pic and caused me to let it "hang fire" to begin with. And on another topic altogether, HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO! Here in CA we celebrate Mexican culture on this holiday. Folk from Mexico and their children born here, contribute a great deal to all of our lives. And (to wax a wee bit political) do not deserve to be fearful of deportation.

THE ROSE FROM THE SEA; & RETURN OF THE ROSES

"The Rose from the Sea" (4-19-17 018v2a) is a perfect example of the sort of patterns I love to photograph. Even as I'm trying to frame a realistic shot like this one, I'm already thinking of the various things I might want try with it once I've got it at my mercy on my computer screen. I hasten to add that what I think as I snap a pic like this one is always simply the jumping off point. What an "abstract" will ultimately look like is a huge unknown. Here's what "The Rose From the Sea" became after a ton of fudging, "Return of the Roses" (4-19-17 018v5) below:

"Return of the Roses" is a crop of the bottom maybe third of "The Rose from the Sea," flipped on its head and then flipped sideways also. And lots of color and texture work, as well. What fun, for which I'm extremely grateful as its an especially hard day so far. Still can't take long walks and may not be able to for a while. I knew how important the long walks had become in helping me to stay at least partially stable emotionally. But I'd forgotten just how bad things were before I started them, back last July. So finding these roses just begging to be brought out was a morning mitzvah.

WAKING TO THE PRINCE'S KISS

"Waking to the Prince's Kiss" (4-29-12 11810v2b), well, what to say. It's one of those that went through gazillions of versions before landing here. And I'm still not over the moon about it. But it's the best of the batch ... I think ... how can I trust my judgment when I've been staring at it in one form or another for over an hour. Clearly, it's also one of those in which the shapes and suggestions have hooked me. Wouldn't be surprised if I didn't come back to it again in the future. BTW, the pic I started from (and would work from again, probably) is a very old version of the original pic from 2012 (that I also still have).

SHE LAYS IT ALL OUT

"She Lays It All Out" (4-27-11 10786v2) has been hanging around for a long time, as is. Just stumbled across it on a (seemingly endless) search for a photo a friend asked for a copy of. I have a couple of different ways of tracking photos. But of course, the one that gets requested is always -- and so far, that's the absolute truth of it -- one that's slipped through my record keeping tactics. And I have to go searching folder by folder by folder ... However, whenever I do one of these lengthy searches, I come across bunches of photos I'd forgotten about and really like. So, it ultimately turns out to be a good experience. P.S. I did find the photo she asked for, though my patience was wearing awfully thin. It was in the very last year of folders I'd thought it could possibly be in. And that, after checking all my external back up drive copies (which are labeled slightly differently), and eight previous years on my hard drive. (It's fortunate I'm not in any particular rush at all today. Can't go on a long walk, or even down to dinner, as I'm not able to safely put a closed shoe on over a very sore toe of mine. Yeah, I'm looking into sandals and/or slides. But in the meantime, the poor beat up toe has to heal.)

MAY POLE (2017)

HAPPY MAY DAY! Just in case it's not obvious, I morphed this pic ("May Pole [2017]" 4-20-11 10746v2a) especially for today. Harking back to the ancient roots of the holiday as a mating/fertility festival, with the May Pole as a phallic symbol. (Also explored this topic a bit today in my dreams&poetry blog post.) This pic is best viewed in a larger version, so just click on the image if you'd like to see the details and contrast better.

LIFE AT THE EDGE

"Life at the Edge" (4-3-17 036v2) is a fairly new pic, posted earlier to my dreams&poetry blog. I'm in a bit of a rush or I'd do up something new for today's post. However, I do like this one, so feel OK about sharing it here. Haven't been to this beach overlook in almost a week (have had to let a toe blister heal). I did make it out today, but had to do other things. I'm hoping to make it to this view tomorrow and maybe get some more pix. (Like I need anymore pix taken in this park ... LOL)
