In Spring Shadows is a new photo, just fiddled with this morning and I won't offer any excuses or explanations for a change. I'll only note with a wee bit of pleasure that it reflects both my love affair with blues/lavenders and my emerging interest in warmer colors. Oh, and (as so frequently noted here) I really enjoy those petal shapes.

Study in Green, above, is a new photo, just worked on this morning. As I kept coming back to these shades for the rose I thought "so much for my exploration of warmer colors." But then I decided to take a warmer color more seriously and the version below, Study in Red, resulted:

I wouldn't say I'm over the moon about either of these versions. Especially as the focus (resolution?) is just about to go wonky in each of them, though I hope the watercolor effect I worked to get balances that out. I'm not trusting my increasingly "cataracted" eyes, nor the lighting in my room these days. Enough excuses. I share these two because there's something about them I do like. Mostly (as usual) the movement of the shapes and shadows.

Need Elbow Room? was just taken yesterday and edited this morning. Thought I'd share a simple, straightforward shot for a change. Leave all the pretensions to artistry for another day. I did very little to this photo other than to crop it (the original is much larger in scope and a bit messy looking), sharpen it, and increase the color contrasts a wee bit. Don't know which I'm more fond of in this particular grouping that crops up every spring: those leaves with the starry veins or those cheeky little blossoms.

Opening to Orange, above, was just edited this morning, from a very new photo. It's actually of a wide open yellow rose; go figure why I wanted not only to crop it this way but change its color. I'll blame the urges on the perverse mood I've been in, on and off, for quite some time.

And below is Making Way for Pink, from the same original picture:

Ah, just thought of something else on which to blame at least the colors of the above edits. I was talking yesterday with a friend who's found herself using more warm colors in her bead work. I'd noticed I've been exploring warmer colors quite a bit more myself recently. Even sometimes retaining the warmer end of the spectrum in my final edits. Maybe it has to do with spring and the warming weather? Dunnoh. All I know is I'm somewhat uncomfortable with the above colors. (And they tend also to be more difficult to work with in the dinky editing programs I have. The focus goes wonky even more readily.) However, new shoes are also uncomfortable. I'll see as I go along what fit I eventually make of colors outside my usual preferences.

Ambush was taken a couple days ago. These are the colors as they were "live." It took a little crouching on my part (and careful leaning on my cane) to get a decent shot of these leaves with the back-lighting "painting" them colorfully. In fact, these bright colors weren't even apparent until I was almost past the bush at first. Then I felt hauled back to be sure I'd actually seen what I thought I had out of the corner of my eye, and started twisting and turning to see it through my camera.
