THE VISITATION

The original for The Visitation (1-14-11) is very old, but just revised today. I have another really old version and wanted to see what photoshop might add to this scene. I've taken many of this St. Francis figure in the approximately four years I've been snapping pix around here. It's one of my perennial "let's give it another try" shots. I particularly like it when it's got vines climbing up it as if they, too, seek his care. Anyway, I sort of like the mystery the "plastic wrap" filter brings to this shot (among other functions I used), giving it a little central glow. And makes the greenery look a bit as if its gathering around him.

ON THE HOOK

On the Hook (5-9-12) is a very old photo, just re-worked today. It's one of those that all I can find to say about it is "meh." I like that hooked stem (it grows that same way, year after year) but that's about it. I've tried before to get a decent crop out of this original that would stand on its own. That is, not require filters and lots of fussing to make it at least a tolerably viewable photo. But where these little orchids grow tends to be visually very busy and I haven't gotten a clear (enough) shot yet. Maybe next year or when my photoshop skills develop further (whichever comes first).

TREMBLORS

The original for Tremblors (9-23-13) is very new, just fiddled with this morning. Lots done to it obviously. It was an ivory colored wide open rose that did not work as such (distractions all around and odd shadows in the petals). Yet the shapes kept leading me on til I wound up here at "Tremblors."

THE FLAME TREE

The original for The Flame Tree (8-26-13) is about a month old; this version just fussed with today. Heavily fussed with, filter after filter applied, some more than once. Then all the playing around with the colors. I was just about to scrap it as a failed version, when I made one last effort to get at what I felt in it and flipped it upside down. There! Finally! The picture I felt tugging at me.

AN AUTUMN WIND

An Autumn Wind is a brand new photo just worked on yesterday. It was taken here in California but how I fooled with it clearly reflects the nostalgia I feel this time of year for upstate New York's fall foliage. (BTW, our sidewalks aren't usually so covered with leaves and seeds pods; there'd just been a huge wind.)

IN THE HALLS OF SORROW

In the Halls of Sorrow (9-15-13) is a very new photo, just worked on yesterday. Nothing much to say about it except it was influenced a wee bit by a dream poem with which I was thinking of posting it. But I decided to post a newer dream poem today and that one required a different photo. So, here's this heavily photoshopped blue mood picture. (I think that the "blue" is due to the advent of Seasonal Affect Disorder. Though it started later this year than usual for me and is, so far, rather mild.)
