SEEDING THE ROSES

Seeding the Roses" (6-27-09 2929v3b) was just morphed out of an old morph of an even older version of a pic in just about the oldest folder I have of photos. (All of the photos in that folder are even a bit glitchy: age or just over-editing? I can't rename them, or copy or even cut them to move them to a current folder.) Roses are coming out in our memorial rose garden which is why I think I was drawn to this old folder. It has some pix of a climbing rose vine on our retirement community grounds that hasn't produced such gorgeous blossoms in years as it did back then. However, what I really need to do is take some new pix of the flora beginning to show itself around here. Like those few new blooms and buds in the rose garden. Was going to make excuses (such as achy joints), none of which really hold water as once I start taking photos I'm always perfectly happy and have to force myself to stop.

A CONFUSION OF SEASONS

"A Confusion of Seasons" (5-13-10 10014v2k) was fussed today out of a much older version of an even older original pic of mine. Nothing much else to say except it's clearly been heavily Photoshopped. And that the title just about describes an experience I have the further I advance into my senior years. Though, in keeping with the title, sometimes it feels more like reverting than advancing ... :-D.

THE PATH NOT TAKEN

"The Path Not Taken" (3-21-10 10004v7), yep, old version, of older pic of mine. All I did today was crop it a wee bit and clarify it slightly. And, yes, the title is a take off on the title of/line in the famous poem by Robert Frost (The Road Not Taken). The more I age (and the decline becomes inevitably steeper) the more I think about the roads/paths not taken. In the case of the pic, it resulted from doing what I usually do when I see something intriguing. I not only look right at it from different angles, but behind me, where I just came from. That gander sometimes produces an even more interesting viewpoint. In the case of this old but "refurbished" pic, I'd been looking at and taking pix of a large tree to the left of the palm in this one. Turning around netted me that little path into the bushes and the lovely textures on the palm trunk.

PETRIFIED WINGS

"Petrified Wings" (3-21-10 10005ev4a) was just further fussed out of an old version (yup!) of an even older original pic of mine. What else to say, it sort of reflects my mood today. Wings may be lost to fear, to age, to any number of things, but somehow things go on and there's even some joy and appreciation along the way. Like the pleasure I get from looking at and fudging with the shadows/colors and patterns in these white stone wings ...

IS THAT A GUN IN YOUR POCKET, OR ARE YOU JUST HAPPY TO SEE ME?

"Is That A Gun In Your Pocket, Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?" (3-21-10 10046ev5a) was just fixed up a bit from a very old version of an much older pic of mine. If you don't recognize that title quote from an old movie, google it. Or just let your imagination go with what's central in this pic. :-) Other than that reference, I kinda sorta like the pastel painting effect in this version of the photo, as well. But to be honest, if I had the time I'd work on this pic a bit more. (Now, now, watch those associations!)
