ROSE PASTICHE

"Rose Pastiche" (11-14-14 041v5) is one of those several other versions of a new pic I posted yesterday, that I threatened to post from in the future. For good or for ill the future is now, as I sort of like this "chalk & charcoal" Photoshop filter effect this time. I don't usually. But with "Rose Pastiche" I applied it to an already heavily morphed photo. So the combination of filters, and fussed with colors, works for me. At least right now. Who knows how I'll feel about it in the future. (Hm, I seem to be more than usually acutely aware of time today. Maybe I should have called this pic "Pastiche of Time." And that's only partly a joke.)

WINTER HEART; & CORNUCOPIOUS

"Winter Heart" (11-14-14 10009ev11f) is just one version of many of a very old photo that I've made in the past couple of days. Given it was not only taken with a low pixel count camera and cropped way down, but that it's been endlessly fudged with, I've had to use the blur function a bit on the various versions ... to minimize how pixelated it now tends to get. In a way, that pixelating is just one more challenge I faced when messing with this pic. On good days I'd say just one more bit of fun I had. But today in the wintry mood I'm in? Definitely a challenge. Then there was the urge to sharpen it again and what that did to the photo (not good, so I cancelled that effect). Upshot? I'm really only posting "Winter Heart" today because it echos my mood. However, "Cornucopious" (11-14-14 041v2) below (from a different, new pic), reflects the current season:

I didn't fuss anywhere near as much with "Cornucopious" and (be forewarned) I have other versions that may show up here. Nay, will definitely appear here. Unless as they "cool" I find I don't like them as much. Which does happen.

TEMPEST IN A TEAPOT

"Tempest in a Teapot" (10-15-14 024v2) is a recent morph of a month old photo. One of those I kept cropping to a smaller and smaller section of the original pic, trying to get at something I saw in its shapes. I have (as usual) several other versions of this crop but think I like this one the most. I don't even have the original anymore, which is extremely unusual. I mistakenly saved one of its other versions to the same file. However, I recognize the shapes in the center of another original shot of the same flower. Just one more reason to take -- as I often do -- at least two shots of the same subject. (Portrait and landscape orientation, as each prompts whatever auto-function I've set my camera at to cope differently. I'm assuming that's because it changes the amount of light and dark within the frame, and sometimes what is at the center of focus.)

FOR PEGGY; THE REBOUND ROSES; & BEAUTY SALON

"For Peggy" (11-14-14 019v3) above, is a photo I took a few days ago in our newly flourishing memorial rose garden. It needed a lot of work (cropping, and especially painting out of background distractions). But once I saw that the sign for Peggy's roses was readable and the blossoms in focus, I felt it was worth the work. "The Rebound Roses" (11-19-14 004v2) below, was just taken today of the full garden:

And I guess gratitude can always bear repeating: the care given by a resident and a friend of our community are why this garden has sprung back to life so fully and late in the year.  "Beauty Salon" (11-14-14 005v2) below, isn't the greatest shot, but it does show that friend pruning the roses. And I have to admit I sort of like seeing the garden in a larger context, as well as those sidewalk and lawn shadows:

SAILING INTO SUNSET

The original pic for this morph, "Sailing Into Sunset" (11-18-14 006v3), was snapped totally by accident yesterday right after I inserted my freshly charged camera battery. The original pic is a partial, off kilter view of my shiny, light colored wood lap desk. When I saw it's shapes and lines today, I could not resist fooling around. I didn't do any altering of the shapes and lines, by the way. Nor did I do any cropping. I just quickly photoshopped color and texture, then modified those further. Early on in that process I "saw" the title scene in it, which did guide the further modifications of color and texture. The resultant morph pleases me, especially as it came out of an accidental shot.

SEEKING CENTER

"Seeking Center" (11-14-14 100093v10) was just tortured from a very old photo of mine. Need I even add that it's only one of several I've made from that same old pic, given my propensity to do just that? Anyway, it's the one I like the most as it retains those ruffled petals and that wheel of seeds. Not to mention I'm a sucker for fuchsia.

ROSE FISH

"Rose Fish" (11-14-14 034v3) is a very new pic just fudged with today. Those shapes are as the rose was live and are what drew me to it (the little fish tail, curving fins, and open mouth, if you will). But the texture and colors were modified with Photoshop and MS Picture Manager. BTW, there is actually a rose fish, though other than being a rosy color doesn't look much like my version here. :-)
