LAST LIGHT OF THE DAY

"Last Light of the Day" (8-23-09 5990v6) is another very old pic of mine, just slightly modified today (a wee bit of diffusing and sharpening). It's one of those I always always have mixed feelings about when I stumble across it. It's so "in your (flower) face" and yet, it's just that aspect that grabs me about it at first. Then, those cool shadow shapes on the petals hook me. You might enjoy getting even more up in its face by clicking on the image (details show better that way ... like the fuzzy edge on the calix of the bud in the lower left).

A SKETCHY MEMORY

"A Sketchy Memory" (8-15-09 5566v2b) is just as I stumbled across it this morning. It's from one of my oldest pix (i.e., nearly seven years old), and was morphed into this incarnation probably a couple of years ago. I'm not mad about it, but there is something I find appealing in its resemblance to a pen sketch. BTW, actual pen sketches of mine almost always have the same sort of fussy detail which, of course, may be why I like the effect here.

CRAQUELURE HEART

"Craquelure Heart" (4-6-14 003v3) was morphed some time ago from an old pic, and slightly color saturated today. Not much else I can say except that I've always liked its rather contradictory aspect: things as soft and delicate as rose petals with cement-like cracks on them.

FAILURE TO THRIVE

"Failure to Thrive" (5-2-16 002v4c) is from a recent version of a month old source pic. And that's about all I have to say as it's obviously been massively fudged with in Photoshop. (Had already been much morphed when I came to it this morning.) And that the title and mood of the pic reflect my mood today.

RISING OF THE KRAKEN

"Rising of the Kraken" (5-28-16 005v3), sorry about that, is from yet another fern photo I like. I've had this version ready and waiting but it needed something. Sure enough it hit me today when I "saw" a kraken in it and I knew the background ferns needed to be more sea-like in coloring.

NESTLINGS

Yup, another fern pic. "Nestlings" (6-6-16 005v2a) is brand new, in a folder of other shots of it (a couple already worked on a little bit). I'm so grateful for this particular large fern these days. It's on-going unfurling in always new ways brings joy to my rather blue life right now. It was especially delighftful taking this batch of fern pix. Fellow residents kept stopping to see what I was so taken with. And a couple even noticed those curlicues at the edges for the first time and were delighted by them. What fun to share the joy!

THE CALLAS CONVENE

"The Callas Convene" (9-4-14 004v11) was just morphed this morning from an old pic (and, of course, is just one of many versions, some already in the folder and some from today). I'm a sucker for the bright colors in this one. I also "kinda, sorta" like that scratchy effect that showed up (with a lot of encouragement from me once it began to appear). BTW, this is another pic that's best viewed in a larger version because of all the details. So just click on the image if you're interested.
