THAT OLD DEVIL YOU

"That Old Devil You" (7-5-09 [2nd folder] 3326v17) was just now morphed from a recent re-working of a very old pic of mine. It's one of those for which I've made many versions, all in the past two days. What fun! Guess I won't lose heart all together as long as torturing pix entertains me this much. (And given that last image of torture, who's really the devil here? LOL)

A WORLD IS BORN

"A World Is Born" (7-5-09 3326v2) was just tortured out of an old version of one of my oldest pix. And as I say here frequently, I had great fun doing it. No apologies and no explanations. :-)

CHANGING OF THE COLOR GUARD

"Changing of the Color Guard" (8-16-09 5614v2b) was just morphed from a very old pic of mine, one I've always liked but found problematic compositionally. I'm still not certain, even with some judicious cropping, about this shape. As I mentioned in a recent post about another pic, it seems OK, until it doesn't! :-) But I really like the blurred outlining and the color combo. As is obvious over the years of pic posts here, I'm a sucker for brights on black. Not to mention my fondness for these blooms which, unfortunately, we have had very few of around our grounds in years subsequent to the year in which this was taken (2009). BTW, this pic is one of those that looks better in a larger version, so just click on the image if you want to see more of the details.

OLD CAN DANCE

"Old Can Dance" (8-1-17 003v2d) is from a pic taken and edited two and a half years ago, and slightly fussed with again this morning. Just improving color contrast and modifying one mildly distracting area. Wish I could say the same for myself that I say about this ancient willow: old can dance. :-) BTW, there is an intended pun/reference to that Australian musical project, Dead Can Dance, in that title.

LETTING OFF STEAM

"Letting Off Steam" (8-1-17 001v2) was just finally fixed up after hanging fire for almost a year and a half. I'm still not all that content with it. Though there is that about it that I do like (that's obvious, I suppose, or otherwise why would I be posting it). Haven't been to sit beneath this willow in many weeks now and I miss it. For some time now I've been concerned that it -- and the willow only a couple of yards away -- may not be allowed to survive much longer. (As I've said here before, IMHO, trees pay a high price for living around humans.) As to what I'm not to happy with about this pic? There's a grayish color I can't get rid of. Did manage to give it a very pale aqua cast but it still comes across grey within the context of the overall photo. Though given my mood today, I'll bet if I'd managed to fix that "grey" to my satisfaction, something else would have begun to bug me. :-(
