NOW ONLY A MEMORY

Like so much else around here (and in life in general) this view is "Now Only A Memory" (8-10-09 5287v4). That building and all the trees (but for the bright green one in the middle distance) are gone. I enjoyed this view, as if it were an ancient agora I was looking onto, past these trees. It's a treeless space now, with a new modern house to the left. At least the house is in a cheery lime green, mostly. But for all I know things have changed even more, as I've not been able to walk there in over a year.

THE FLEEING DOE...

I'm sure I've posted "The Fleeing Doe..." (Haiga folder 19103ev3[2]) here before, as I made this haiga (poem on pic) back in August of 2012. All I did to it today was to crop it slightly. I've always liked both this photo (which I haven't been able to locate) and the dreamku (the 3-line dream poem) on it. BTW, I composed that dreamku as I was dreaming that image. I do wish I still had the original photo I've used with it, as it could use a little care (to improve focus) and then I could re-enter the poem on it. But if wishes were horses ... ey?

HOLDING ON

"Holding On" (5-27-17 020v2[3]) is an old version of a two year-old pic, that I just fussed with a bit more this morning. If I had a nickel for every time I've said this here I'd be wealthy, and I'll say it again: I love taking pix of these sorts of tree roots. As I've also said numerous times here in the past almost two years, I've not had the opportunity to do so for a while as I'm not able to take the long walks on which I'd meet up with these trees. But I do have many pix of them I've taken over my 11 years here that I can enjoy and torture into different forms. Today's isn't quite "right" in my estimation, and I can't seem to get at what's bothering me about it. Yet, there's enough to it that I do like that I'm posting it anyway.

THE APPLE OF HIS EYE

"The Apple of His Eye" (Haiga folder, 6c thabol) is not a photo, but an ancient sketch of mine that I fussed into this form, using Photoshop, back in 2016. I was reminded of this pic, and the others in a series of versions, when I dreamed of a horse a couple nights ago. I've loved horses since earliest childhood. And was trying to draw them even before I could print words in wobbly block letters. Since it's been worked on as if it were a photo, not to mention it's my blog and I can do pretty much anything with it I want 😊, I'm posting it here. (If you're curious about that recent horse dream I mentioned above, click here.)

THE CHANNELS OBSCURED

"The Channels Obscured" (5-27-17 012v2[2]) was just further fussed with, after much fussing when taken two years ago. I haven't been to this beach overlook in probably a year and a half, and I miss sitting there, looking at the sky and sea. And always, when they're out for viewing (which is only at certain times of the year), the Channel Islands on the horizon. Here, they're still being rained on and are barely seeable for all the clouds and fog. I keep wanting to sharpen the edges of the sky cloud shapes, but that over-sharpens the fence, et al. (Complaint alert!) I don't yet have the use of an image editing program with which I can select only certain portions of a pic to be edited. Or I'd try that here. Then again, it may not matter much or even detract from the pic since clouds are an entirely different visual texture from wood and wire and plants to begin with. Ah well, I'm posting it as is now because I'm feeling very sentimental and missing my long walks. I should add that, more and more often, I'm feeling grateful that I took so many pix on those walks with which I can now remember them...should it come to pass I won't be able to take walks like that again.

ARTEMIS CONTEMPLATING

"Artemis Contemplating" (Old Pix-2 11035[3]) is a very old pic of mine, of a birdbath that is no longer in this garden. I blush to admit, but the pix I posted here recently of a female statue and called a birdbath is not one. I had it confused with this one. More proof that my memory's going the way of everything else in my life. I guess I could give myself a bit of a break as this pic is seven years old. Hm, or maybe not. In any case, I've always kinda, sorta liked this view of the birdbath. Like Artemis, as spied on by Actaeon, wondering whether She'll take a dip or not.

THE EMPRESS (III)

"The Empress (III)" is an old Found Tarot card of mine. (To see others in this on-going project of mine, google for "Roswila's Tarot Gallery & Journal" and then use the search function to find all Found Tarot card postings on it.) I'm sharing this today, Mother's Day, in remembrance of my mother, Mary. The Empress is often seen as the archetypal mother in the 78 Card deck. As to why a photo of a doorway? In Tarot lore, The Empress is often corresponded to the Hebrew letter Daleth, which in noun form means "door." Among many other things, She's also a card of abundance and fertility, and is frequently depicted as pregnant.
